Whether you’re a parent or not, I think we can all agree that parenthood does not look like it comes without profound challenges. In a recent appearance on an episode of the Raising Good Humans With Dr. Aliza podcast, Sin City star, Jessica Alba , got candid about one of the “hardest” parts of being a mom.
It goes without saying, but parenthood is not for the weak.

Raising another human being is a very special job without a unique set of expected and unexpected challenges.
Jessica Alba knows a thing or two about it.
The “Sin City” actress recently opened up about some of the difficulties that come with being a mom, and which one she finds the “hardest” to manage.

The 40-year-old and her husband Cash Warren share a 13-year-old, Honor, a 10-year-old, Marie, and a 4-year-old, Hayes.
This isn’t the first time that Alba has opened up about being a parent.

In 2021, the actress got candid about attending therapy with her daughter, Honor.
She explained that when she was a child, she and her parents didn’t always communicate well and it ultimately affected the relationship she has with them.
“I felt like my relationship really suffered with my parents because they didn’t know how to communicate with me,” she shared. “And how I needed to be parented.”

In an effort to prevent the past from repeating itself with her own children, Alba thought it was time to connect with Honor through therapy.
“So I didn’t want that breakdown with Honor, so we went to therapy together,” she said on Katherine Schwarzenegger’s “Before, During, & After Baby” Instagram series.

Anyway, Alba is back with some more parenting wisdom — this time on an episode of the Raising Good Humans With Dr. Aliza podcast.
Admittedly, the most challenging part of being a parent for Alba has been allowing her children to learn their own lessons.

Understandably, one might want to protect their children and prevent them from making mistakes as opposed to standing by and letting them find out the hard way.
“That’s impossible,” she said of letting her children make their own mistakes. “[It’s] one thing that I definitely struggle with.”

She explained that there is a time to allow children to make mistakes and there is a time to intervene.
“That is the hardest part about being a parent is allowing your kids to make a mistake and knowing when it is going to be too hard or too much,” she said.

She then corrected herself, explaining that there are no life lessons that will be “too much” for her children.
“And then you’re like, I guess nothing’s too much,” the Fantastic Four star continued.
Alba thinks it’s important for children to learn lessons on their own.

“But I also like it. They’re not mistakes, they’re lessons, and they’re meant to go through the challenges, and it’s meant to bring them out the other side,” she said .
