According to statements made by authorities, the accident happened on January 1 when Renner was attempting to help a family member after the car his relative was driving got stuck in the snow.

Renner, who owns a home close to Lake Tahoe in Reno, experienced a storm the previous night that dumped an estimated three feet of snow there.
How He Got Ran Over
Renner successfully removed the car from his driveway using his PistenBully, a 14,000-pound snowcat. The snowplow suddenly started to roll as he talked to the family member after getting out of the PistenBully.
The ” Hurt Locker ” actor was “run over” by the enormous snow groomer when he tried to get back into the PistenBully to stop it from moving.
