Recalling the frightening experience, The comedian stated during an interview that he smelled leaking gas while testing a 1940 Indian motorcycle on January 17 and decided to check what the problem was.

So, he turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, but unknown to him, there was a guy with a wire strung to the parking lot with no red flag hanging. Unfortunately, Jay didn’t see the wire until it was too late.

According to the comedic legend, it clotheslined him, knocking him off his motorcycle. The effect of the crash left Jay with a broken collarbone, two broken ribs, two cracked kneecaps, and some burns on his face, hands, and chest.

Following the accident, an ambulance took the comedian to a hospital, sending him to the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles. There, he received hyperbaric treatment and oxygen therapy that could accelerate burn wound healing.
