OOP!
Chris Pratt posted a picture in partnership with Amazon, and Jason Momoa called him out in partnership with the planet.
Jason Momoa is a passionate climate activist.

He takes sustainability very seriously, and rightfully so! Aquaman is a role model, and Jason has seen the effects of single use plastic up close.
After all, he’s from Hawaii!
He’s a huge part of the #ProtectMaunaKea movement.
Mauna Kea is the proposed site of an 18 story telescope, or Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT).
Mauna Kea is a sacred site to Hawaiians. Jason Momoa joined the protests alongside his children to protect the land that belongs to the native Hawaiian people.
So you can imagine how he felt when he saw Chris Pratt with a plastic water bottle.

Chris was making a post about a partnership he’d entered into with Amazon. He has a store where people can buy all the equipment and materials he uses to keep in shape.
Jason clocked the water bottle immediately.

“bro i love you but wtf on the water bottle. no single use plastic. come on,” he replied to the post.
His comment really resonated with people — it has over 24,000 likes.
Chris was quick to apologize.
“Aquaman! You’re completely right. Dammit. I always carry my big gallon size reusable water jug around with me too. I even had it that day!!” He began in reply to Jason.
He didn’t bring the water bottle to the shoot.
“If I remember correctly somebody threw that plastic bottle to me in the photo shoot cause I didn’t know what to do with my hands! I never know what to do with my hands! So uncomfortable.”
And he was really sorry.
“For real tho. Love you too buddy. My bad. I don’t want your home of Atlantis covered in plastic. Hear that kids? Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.”
It’s not up to me, but that’s a great apology.
I checked out his Amazon store.

And he does indeed have a reusable water bottle listed on there, so his explanation makes sense.
I personally wouldn’t go for a red-brown water bottle, but that’s just me. I’m more of a pink girl.
Some people had issues with Jason’s clapback.

One user wrote, “don’t come after the consumer. Go after the manufacturers. Honestly, love a good reusable water bottle but this is ridiculous.”
All I can say is: why not both?
Other people totally understood the responsibilities celebrities have to be role models.

And still others had issues with how Jason went about talking to Chris.

It looks like comments like this truly got to both of them, as well as the media coverage that happened afterward.
Jason was so distressed about all the drama that he made his own post on Instagram.

“BRO you know my children and I are madly in love with you and I love everything you do. I’m sorry this was received so badly today I didn’t mean for that to happen,” he wrote.
He is an activist, after all!
“I’m just very passionate about this single use plastic epidemic. the plastic water bottles have to stop i hope u make a reusable water bottle for amazon so we all can purchase.”
He signed off with love.
“You’re an inspiration to many I’m one of them. I’ll send you a case of MANANALU. All my Aloha, Da Momoa’s”
I’m so glad we waited until now to report on this story, so we could clear everything up.
And as for Mauna Kea…
Remember earlier, when we talked about a cause very close to Jason’s heart?
It looks like Spain is ready to take the telescope. As the protestors have all expressed support in it being anywhere but a sacred site, hopefully, this is a step in the right direction!
Celebrities are getting called out left and right for their single use plastic affinity.
In a recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians , Kourtney let Kim have it when she drank from a plastic water bottle.
“We’re trying to change the law. You do need to change too,” Kourtney said.
“I’m only having these from now on,” Kourtney emphasized, holding up her own multi-use water bottle.
Unfortunately, Kourtney was on the receiving end of some cries of hypocrisy when later in the very same episode fans spotted her drinking out of a plastic water bottle.
Like Chris, Kourtney immediately came prepared with an explanation.

“I was in Kim’s office and that’s all that was there,” she explained in a tweet , which sure sounds a lot like the excuse Chris used.
She did take a little bit of the blame.

“No I’m not perfect, but I could have brought a reusable bottle for the day, this is true,” she finished her tweet off.
Are you ditching the single use plastics?
Do you still drink from a water bottle? Or are you getting on the Hydroflask train and bringing your own multi-use bottle everywhere with you?
