Isabela Ferrer, who plays Blake Lively’s character’s younger self in It Ends With Us, has filed a rebuttal to Justin Baldoni’s subpoena, saying the director is ‘harassing’ her.
Baldoni subpoenaed Ferrer
Ferrer, 24, was subpoenaed by Baldoni’s lawyers in relation to his legal dispute with Blake Lively, who filed a sexual harassment complaint against him in December 2024.
On August 12, Baldoni’s lawyers filed a motion claiming that Ferrer has been unresponsive and unreachable.
Ferrer filed a rebuttal against him
Ferrer’s lawyers have now filed a rebuttal, claiming that Baldoni has ‘engaged in bad faith tactics’ and filed the motion ‘for improper purposes and with the aim of harassing’ Ferrer, per People.
The actress has asked the court to deny Baldoni’s motion and impose sanctions on him.
Lively had subpoenaed Ferrer earlier
Ferrer had actually been served a subpoena by Lively, 37, in February for communications relevant to her dispute with Baldoni.
Following this subpoena, Ferrer invoked an indemnification clause in her acting contract with Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios at It Ends With Us Movie, LLC, requiring they pay their employee’s legal fees.
Her lawyers claim she was asked to give over control
In their new motion, Ferrer’s team alleges, “It Ends, LLC has not honored its obligations.”
They added that the production company agreed to indemnify Ferrer on the ‘serious’ condition that she ‘confirm that she will ‘surrender control’’ of her response, ‘not actually allowing Ms. Ferrer to provide the documents that reveal the true facts.’
They claimed Baldoni’s team tried to control her response
Ferrer submitted the relevant communications in relation to the movie in response to Lively’s subpoena, but Baldoni and his team have ‘been improperly attempting to exert control over’ her, including with the new subpoena, claims her team.
Ferrer’s lawyers say it overlaps too much with Lively’s
The actress’s lawyers also claim that Baldoni’s new subpoena of Ferrer overlaps significantly with the one Lively served in February, alleging that the subpoena and August 12 motion ‘are transparent efforts to exert pressure on Ms. Ferrer.’
They explained why it’s problematic
Explaining why the overlap in subpoenas is problematic, Ferrer’s lawyers said, “Baldoni made no effort to tailor the subpoena towards the production of new or different materials, demonstrating that the real aim of the Baldoni Subpoena, as well as the pending Motion, is to harass Ms. Ferrer.”
Her lawyers also claim financial pressure
Ferrer’s lawyers further claimed that the delayed negotiation over her indemnity is a ‘transparent attempt to put financial pressure on’ her.
“Ferrer sought reasonable extensions of time from Lively to respond to the Lively Subpoena until the indemnity issue was resolved.”
