I Am Legend is an iconic film that left not a dry eye in theaters when it was originally released, and whose impact on pop culture can still be felt over a decade and a half since it was first shared with the public.
It looks like they’re wanting to bring everyone back to that emotional high pretty soon, as a sequel was just announced that will see WIll Smith returning to his iconic role alongside some other friendly faces.
‘I Am Legend’ is celebrating 15-year anniversary, having first been released in 2007.
In celebration, or perhaps just sheer coincidence, a sequel has been officially announced.
The star of the original film, Will Smith, is set to return alongside Black Panther ‘s Michael B. Jordan.
Smith isn’t the only one returning from the first film’s team.
Akiva Goldsman, who originally adapted the I Am Legend novel into a film, is returning to write the sequel.
Smith and Jordan will be producing the movie alongside Elizabeth Raposo and Jon Mone.
The announcement is still fresh, meaning there are still some unknown facts.
One of the big ones being who will be directing the film, as there’s no news whether or not Francis Lawrence, director of the first film, will be returning.
There’s also the question of the plot, seeing as the adapted novel never had a sequel, meaning this tale will be all-original.
The film is clearly still in early, early production, but the announcement alone is enough to get excited about!
