Graham Norton has shared which celebrity was ‘hell’ to have as a guest on his hit talk show, The Graham Norton Show.
He shared the insight at a recent event
According to The Independent, during an event at the Henley Literary Festival, the Irish TV host shared insight on the celebrities that come on his show.
He said, “If you ever see a drunk person on the show, it’s because they’ve arrived drunk – we have not made that happen.”
Norton recalled a story about one celebrity
The 62-year-old recalled one incident in particular, where Mark Wahlberg arrived at the show drunk.
“Mark Wahlberg was a weird one because when he arrived, he didn’t seem drunk,” Norton recalled.
Norton eventually realized he was drunk
Norton said of Wahlberg, “He told me about his film, told me a couple of stories about stunts going wrong or whatever, and then it was only 15 minutes into the show when whatever the hell was in his system really took hold – and it was hell.”
Wahlberg appeared on Norton’s show in 2013
Wahlberg, 54, made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in 2013 when he was promoting his movie, Broken City, co-starring Russell Crowe.
He appeared along with fellow guests Michael Fassbender, 48, and Sarah Silverman, 54. Norton recalled, “No one could tell a story.”
He kept interrupting other guests
Norton continued, “You tried to tell a story, he’d just interrupt and, at one stage, Michael Fassbender was telling a story and this one as going quite well.”
Wahlberg then fell asleep
Norton went on about Fassbender, “He was really getting into the heart of the anecdote. I thought, ‘this one is going well – I wonder why’ and I looked over at Mark Wahlberg and he was asleep. So yeah, we don’t encourage that.”
They offer a drink but doesn’t aim to get you drunk
Norton explained that his producers don’t try to get his guests drunk.
He said, “There’ll be a drink waiting for you if you want one and then, while we’re showing a clip or getting the music ready.”
It can be difficult if someone is already drunk
Norton added of the producers, “They might be able to rush in and top you up, but the most you can have is two, three tops.”
“So if anyone does want to appear on the show and be drunk, my tip to you would be pre-load.”
