It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly one year since the Royal family lost Prince Philip. The Duke of Edinburgh passed away on April 9, 2021 at the age of 99.
Now, almost a year after his passing, and with the ease of COVID-19 restrictions, the Royal family is able to honor the Duke’s life in a proper celebration of thanksgiving.
Soon after photos emerged of the event, fans quickly noticed there was a common color being sported by several Royal family members.

The deep green color was worn by HM Queen Elizabeth, Duchess of Cornwall Camila Parker Bowles, and Princess Anne.
“I’m being told that she’s dressed in Edinburgh Green,” tweeted one Royal fan.
“The Queen, being the head of an ancient institution, which has a tendency to send hidden messages they cannot say outright, always finds a way to honour people privately,” they added .
According to the Royal family’s website, Prince Philip’s livery color was Edinburgh Green.
“It has been used for staff liveries – the Duke of Edinburgh’s page at the Coronation wore dark green and silver – and private cars,” the website reads, as per DailyMail .
Since this was a celebration of life and not a funeral, the Royals weren’t required to wear black.
I think this is such a lovely tribute to a man who was loved by so many.
