Chris Pratt recently shared his views on those who dislike Donald Trump and his administration and the actor’s fanbase have since responded sharply to his message.
Pratt is related to a member of the administration
Chris Pratt holds close ties with Robert F Kennedy Jr. – commonly referred to as RFK Jr. – who is a key member of the Trump administration.
The pair know each other through the actor’s marriage to Katherine Schwarzenegger who happens to be RFK Jr.’s cousin through his father’s side.
Pratt recently spoke about the president’s policies
In a recent appearance on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast, Chris Pratt shared his views on Trump’s policies and the people who disagree with them, which really upset a portion of his fanbase.
Pratt began by saying that there were ‘certain things that would be good to have’ within the policies RFK Jr. advocates for.
He spoke about RFK Jr.
Pratt said, “I’ve spent a number of occasions hanging with him [in a] strictly family dinner kind of vibe.”
“I really got along with him well and think he’s great. He’s funny, he’s wonderful. I love him,” the 46-year-old actor added.
Pratt didn’t want to ‘jump on the bandwagon’
The Guardians of the Galaxy star went on to claim that politicians are ‘inherent enemies’, telling Maher, “And when you jump on the bandwagon with the most divisive president ever, it makes sense that you’re going to be made to look terrible. So I don’t know what to believe.”
He assumes the things said aren’t true
Pratt continued, “It’s not like I say to Bobby, ‘Let’s talk about this’ while we’re playing cards or having fun or having dinner. I’m not going to pick his brain to find out exactly which of those things are true. I just assume that none of them are?”
“For the most part, I wish him well. There are certain things [he] oversees that seem to be supported in a bipartisan way.”
He then had a message for Trump’s haters
Elsewhere in the conversation, Pratt said, “I’d hate to be so mired in hatred for the president that any success from his administration is something I’d be having an allergic reaction to.”
“To be like, ‘Oh, well, if they do it, I don’t want it to happen. I’ll put Clorox in my children’s cereal myself!’ Be reasonable here. There’s certain things that would be a good thing to have.”
His fanbase weren’t happy with what he said
Pratt’s comments were more upsetting to his fanbase than he could’ve anticipated, with many taking to social media to respond.
“I respected your work, but supporting Trump makes it impossible for me to see you the same way,” wrote one person.
Some decided they won’t support him anymore
Another upset fan said they won’t support Pratt anymore, writing, “I had a lot of respect for you and your work – but defending this administration reflects your values. I will no longer watch any of your movies. Power to the people.”
Some tried to explain how ‘horrible’ the policies are
One fan tagged Pratt’s own page under a behind-the-scenes reel of his show The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, saying they want him ‘to understand how horrible the policies of RFK are’.
“People will die unnecessarily for generations because of this,” they said. “His mere words will set our medical advancements back a decade.”
“You can be red, blue, purple or anywhere in between but this has no place in politics. Everyone will suffer at some point in the future because of what is happening today.”
