If you’re not a car person, Bugattis are crazy expensive, super rare, and not just anyone can get one. Even if you’ve got the cash, the brand is picky. Tom Cruise is one of the biggest actors on the planet. You’d think he could buy any car he wants, right? Well… not exactly. Turns out, Bugatti won’t sell him one.
Bugatti is known for having some of the fastest cars on Earth
The French brand makes some of the fastest cars out there—and they’re just as picky about who gets to own one.
Bugatti cars cost millions of dollars

These cars go for anywhere between $3 million and $12.5 million. But for Cruise, it’s not about the price tag. Money’s not what’s keeping him from getting one.
Owning a Bugatti isn’t just expensive, it’s a whole commitment
If you’ve got one, be ready to drop around $21,000 a year just on maintenance. Which is more than the price of a brand-new car. And on top of that, it is recommended by the car company to swap out the tires every 10,000 miles.
Cruise’s Bugatti ban goes way back to 2006
This isn’t some recent drama—it all started nearly 20 years ago.
It happened at the Mission: Impossible 3 premiere back in 2006 when Cruise pulled up in a Bugatti Veyron, all cool and flashy… until he wasn’t. Cameras caught him struggling to open the passenger door while his then-wife, Katie Holmes, sat inside, waiting to get out.
Bugatti considered the moment too embarrassing

The Mission Impossible star’s wife did eventually get out, and they made it to the red carpet. But Bugatti noticed that little door struggle.
Apparently, the brand found it way too embarrassing. And instead of letting it slide, they straight-up banned Cruise for life—just to make sure it never happened again.
But Tom is not the only celebrity banned from Bugatti

For one reason or another, other big names like Floyd Money Mayweather, Flo Rida, Simon Cowell, and even 2009 Formula One champ Jenson Button have also been hit with the ‘no Bugatti for you’ rule.
Lucky for him, Cruise still owns other luxury cars
He’s still got a bunch of other luxury rides. He’s had everything from BMWs to Chevrolets and Mustangs in his garage at some point.
