Even though it’s summer and you probably want to be outside, there are a few reasons to cozy up in front of your television. Why? It’s because Netflix has a lot of cool stuff coming out in August.
New shows are hitting the screen this upcoming month, and even interesting documentaries you may not want to miss. Oh, and did I mention a slew of new movies as well? So let’s take a look at Netflix’s exciting August TV lineup .

Fans of reality TV also have something to look forward to on Netflix this coming August. Lady Tamara is one of those fascinating shows that I think will be worth checking out. It centers around a Spanish aristocrat and chef, Tamara Falcó, as she balances work, play, and her famous family.
The Sandman (August 5)
Who here is into the spooky stuff? Right on. Let me just say that I think you’ll enjoy this show based on Neil Gaiman’s seminal graphic novel . It centers around Morpheus, a recently freed man who travels across dimensions to restore his otherworldly powers. Wow! That sounds interesting, huh? It might be worth checking out.
I Just Killed My Dad (August 9)
Those who rather watch compelling documentaries have something to look forward to. I Just Killed My Dad is a riveting look at the never-been-told-before true story of the Templet family. Anthony Templet shot his father, but we never really understood why. This three-part series will explore the mindset that leads up to the events of June 3, 2019, and its aftermath.
13: The Musical (August 12)
If this movie sounds familiar, you would be right. It was actually adapted from a Broadway show. It tells the story of a young man, Evan Goldman (played by Eli Golden), who is trying to navigate the uncertain terrain of young adulthood just as his Bar Mitzvah comes about. It comes with a stellar cast, including Debra Messing, Rhea Perlman, Peter Hermann, and Josh Peck.
Day Shift (August 12)
If you’re sick of TV shows, don’t worry. Netflix also has some exciting new movies coming out in August. Day Shift stars Jamie Foxx as a hard-working dad. But there’s a twist to this story. To support his daughter, he uses a boring pool-cleaning job as a front for his real gig: hunting and killing vampires. Wow!
Never Have I Ever Season 3 (August 12)
Fans of this Mindy Kaling’s teen dramedy will be a little sad as the show is coming to an end in 2023, but before then, there’s the third season to enjoy. As you remember, we left off with our heroine trying to decide between two suitors: the dreamy Paxton and her academic nemesis, Ben. Which one would she choose? You have to watch to find out, ha, ha.
A Model Family (August 12)
Here’s another different kind of show you may want to put on your must-watch list. A Model Family is a South Korean television series directed by Kim Jin-woo. It focuses on a cash-strapped professor who, after unwittingly stealing money from a cartel, finds the only way to save his broken family is by working as a drug courier. Yikes!
Unsuspicious (August 17)
Who here is into TV mysteries? Those are always interesting, huh? So here’s one you may enjoy. The Unsuspicious plot may sound a little funny at first, but I’m sure there’s more to it once you watch it.
After three women have been conned by the same playboy, they and their families venture out to his mansion to get some answers — only he’s dead, and now they have to stick around for the investigation. Wow! I wonder what will unfold there, huh?
Inside The Mind Of A Cat (August 18)
Where are all my cat people? Have you ever thought about what might go through the mind of your cat? I have, ha, ha. This new Netflix documentary explores just that. It features cat experts who dive into the fascinating world of the feline mind. And I don’t know about you, but it sounds like something I would definitely want to watch.
Echoes (August 19)
Echoes debuting on Netflix on August 19 is a mystery thriller about identical twins, Leni and Gina, who share a dangerous secret. They have secretly switched places for years. But when one sister disappears, both their lives start to fall apart. Oh, my!
Kleo (August 19)
Are you looking for a little intrigue with a historical twist? Look no further than Kleo . This TV series centers on a former East German spy who, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, sets out to find out who betrayed her and why. And then she uses her deadly skills to exact revenge. Oh my gosh!
The Girl in the Mirror – Alma (August 19)
So are you into some horror? Well, Netflix has that for you too. The Girl in the Mirror is a story of a young woman who, after losing her memory in a bizarre accident that kills most of her classmates, tries to unravel what happened that day and regain her identity. How interesting, huh?
Chad And JT Go Deep (August 23)
Now, let’s move on to some comedy. Enough of all the mysterious stuff, ha, ha. This show centers around best buds Chad and JT, who set out to spread positivity through community activism and chill vibes in this raucous prank comedy series. Oh, and it stars Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, ha, ha! This is going to be fun.
MO (August 23)
Coming to Netflix on August 23 is MO . Comedian Mo Amer stars in this TV drama, which he also co-wrote and co-produced with Ramy Youssef (‘Ramy’). Living in Texas, Mo straddles the line between two cultures, three languages, and a pending asylum request while hustling to support his Palestinian family.
Selling The OC (August 24)
Let me ask you, were you totally obsessed with the Oppenheim brothers in Selling Sunset ? Well, if you said “Heck, yeah,” then you must already know that there’s a spin-off coming to Netflix this August. This one will follow Jason Oppenheim as he leads a group of new agents at the Oppenheim Group’s office in Newport Beach, California. And I’m sure there will be plenty of new drama.
Lost Ollie (August 24)
If you think there’s nothing exciting on Netflix for kids, you’d be wrong. Lost Ollie is a new animated series created by Shannon Tindle. The story is about a lost toy, searching across the countryside for the boy who lost him, and the story of the boy who lost more than a best friend. Aww!
Ludik (August 26)
Who here is a fan of Arnold Vosloo? You know the guy who became popular after playing the mummy in The Mummy ? Oh, yeah! He’s back in Netflix’s first Afrikaans series. This new crime TV show is about an enterprising furniture tycoon who is trying to save a kidnapped family member by using his secret diamond smuggling operation to transport guns across the border.
Me Time (August 26)
Speaking of dads, here’s another cool movie for you. This time it’s Kevin Hart in a role of a stay-at-home dad. While his family is away, he finally gets some me-time and a chance to reconnect with an old friend (Mark Wahlberg). What transpires is a wild weekend that may upend his life.
