Emily Blunt has shared her honest thoughts about working with her husband, actor and director John Krasinski.
She first starred in his 2018 film
The beloved 42-year-old actress first worked with her husband in his 2018 alien horror movie, A Quiet Place.
The pair, who play a couple on-screen as they are off-screen, have received a lot of praise for the movie.
But she had her reservations
Blunt, who is a great actress in her own right, spoke honestly about initial fears she had in regards to the film because of her marriage to Krasinski, 46.
She told ELLE Magazine on their Women In Hollywood 2025 Celebration issue about her thoughts on working with him.
She was worried about the directing
Revealing her initial conversations with Krasinski over the film, Blunt said, “Before we started, I was like, ‘Look, I’m thrilled to be doing this with you, but do you know how to shoot this movie?”
Krasinski apparently found this funny
“‘Because I don’t know how to shoot a movie. So I’m just asking,’” she went on to her husband.
“He was laughing and he was like, ‘I think I do know how to shoot it. I don’t know why, but I think I do,’” Blunt added of Krasinski’s response.
She was glad it turned out well
“Then, my God, did he. And can you imagine if he thought I was really s***. That would not be good,” Blunt added.
Although the actress was worried that she wouldn’t like her own husband’s take on directing, she didn’t have to worry much as the film was well received.
It received high praise
Krasinski’s directing received high praise, with the movie getting a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Blunt continued, “I think if we had done that movie and we didn’t respect or admire each other, it would’ve been an absolute disaster.”
She also praised her husband’s work
The Devil Wears Prada star also praised Krasinski’s efforts on the project, saying that it was a ‘wild’ experience to watch him direct.
“I don’t think he knew what he was capable of,” she said. “So it’s sort of like watching someone discover a superpower, which was wild.”
