You might want to clutch those brakes if you are a reporter trying to contact Twitter’s press department. Twitter CEO, Elon Musk, has recently opted for a scatological strategy for his company moving forward, and it is wild!
Press Communications Resumes

Good news…maybe. Elon Musk has announced that Twitter will resume communications with the press after months of ghosting by the company’s email address since the Tesla boss took over.
Not What You Think
Unfortunately, you might not get the response you are hoping for. If you have questions about mass layoffs, lawsuits, unpaid office spaces, or advertising revenue, you might want to save it for Elon Musk directly…if he responds.
P**p Season

On Sunday, March 20th, Elon Musk shared his new plans for the press department with fans, followers, and critics on Twitter. The tech boss confirms the new strategy will be to auto-respond to any email sent to the company’s official press address, press@twitter.com, with a p**p emoji.
It Is True
Many media outlets rushed to confirm the update a few minutes to an hour after his tweet. Press staff at Diply have confirmed that Elon Musk isn’t joking, which will make it the new development going forward.
Comments On The Development

Since the new update rolled out, there have been mixed reactions to the Twitter boss’ post. Some have found it hilarious, with one tweep tweeting , “It works that’s pretty funny.” And others taking a jibe at him, tweeting, “It’s fantastic that you’re sending a company prospectus with every press request.”
Not The First Time He Used It

The Tesla CEO is known for his “p**p” comments, as this will not be the first public use of the emoji. On May 16, 2022, Musk tweeted the p**p emoji to former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal after Parag’s Twitter team issued a legal complaint accusing Musk of violating the $44 billion takeover agreement.
Led To Another Lawsuit
His one “p**p” comment led Parag to cite another lawsuit against Musk, claiming he publicly dishonored the ex-CEO, Parag Agrawal — explained in simple terms.
P**p Equals BS

Responding to an article tweeted by Shacknews , Elon Musk explained the meaning of the p**p emoji to mean “bs,” which is a short form for “b******t.”
Before Musk
Before the SpaceX CEO took over Twitter as its new boss in October last year, reporters and journalists could communicate or, at least, count on getting a response over email. But, all that halted post-October only to resume on Sunday with the auto-p**p response.
His Known Hostility Towards Journalists

Not the first time Musk has shown hostile behavior toward journalists. His mantra is that he believes reporters are biased in disseminating information about his companies—the same way he got rid of Tesla’s press department in 2020.
Public Reasons
When asked by an investment advisor, Gary Black, to hire a public relations person for Tesla in 2021, Musk responded with his reasons for not having one. In his tweet , he wrote, “Other companies spend money on advertising & manipulating public opinion, Tesla focuses on the product. I trust the people.”
The First Department To Go

After Elon Musk’s expected takeover from Parag Agrawal as CEO of Twitter, the New York Times reports that the communications team at the company was among the first laid-off staff.
Harmful Or Good?
With the new update from Musk on Twitter’s press response to queries via email, it might do the giant social media company more harm than good.
Exhibit A

When Elon Musk tweeted in February that Twitter would begin sharing ad revenue with creators, many people had questions regarding further details. But, there was no communications team.
Remains Unclear
When communications with Twitter’s team were botched, several creators tried to get answers from the boss but got nothing. How the revenue program will work remains unclear — which is one “harmful” way the no-press team can cause Twitter.
Free Speech

During his purchase of Twitter, Elon Musk had always stated to promote “Free Speech” on the platform. In response to the inappropriate ban of users on the platform, as he refers to it.
Unraveling Secrets
As part of his first moves being boss, Musk began releasing “Twitter Files” that illustrate how the company under Parag Agrawal moderated and suppressed information on Twitter.
His Twitter Poll

In another of Musk’s unpredictable and erratic behaviors, he held a Twitter poll last December asking whether he should retain his position as CEO of Twitter. In a turn of events for him, he lost by 57%.
Moving Forward

Although Musk has yet to announce his replacement; but, in a banter with followers, he revealed that whoever wants to take over from him “must like pain a lot.” Tweeting, “No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor.”
