Dolly Parton has given a health update after speculation rose about her well-being following a post made by her sister, Freida Parton, who asked fans to pray for the country singer.
She gave a health update
Dolly, 79, made a video giving her fans a health update after she postponed her Las Vegas concerts for almost a year. Her sister has also posted on Facebook asking fans to pray for Dolly.
In the video update, Dolly also spoke about how her late husband Carl Dean’s death affected her.
She wanted to reassure fans
“I want you to know that I’m okay,” Dolly said to her fans in a video shared to Instagram on Wednesday, October 8.
“I’ve got some problems, as I mentioned,” she said, referring to the announcement that she would be postponing upcoming concerts.
Dolly mentioned the death of her husband

“Back when my husband Carl was very sick, that was for a long time, and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of,” Dolly said.
Her doctor advised she take better care

“So anyway, when I got around to it, the doctor said, we need to take care of this. We need to take care of that,” Dolly continued.
The country star added that what she was taking care of was ‘nothing major’ but didn’t specify what the health issues were.
She had to cancel her shows because of it
Dolly added, “But I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt [University Medical Center], where I’m kind of having a few treatments here and there, but I wanted you to know that I’m not dying.”
She thanked her fans for their care
The beloved star concluded her message, saying, “I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me and I ain’t done working.”
Signing off, she added, “So I love you for caring, and keep praying for me.” Dolly also captioned the post, “I ain’t dead yet!”
Her sister had made a post asking for prayers
This comes after Dolly’s sister, Freida Parton, wrote on Facebook that she was ‘up all night praying’ for the country star.
Freida wrote, “Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”
She followed it up with another post
Freida’s initial post on Tuesday, October 7, sparked worries for Dolly’s wellbeing. This prompted her to follow it up with another post, saying she ‘didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious.’
“I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister,” she wrote.
