Dana White is in the hot seat for slapping his wife during a bar fight on New Year’s Eve. The couple attended a private party in Cabo, and all seemed well until a heated argument between him and Anne turned violent.
Since the video went viral on TMZ and other social sites, White has received backlash for physically abusing his wife. The heat is now too much and almost affecting his career. So the UFC chief organized a press conference and apologized.
Learn more about the situation below.
The Fight Between Husband And Wife
Dana and Anne celebrated their 26th-anniversary last year alongside their three children, Dana III, Savannah, and Aidan. Their constant show of affection on the internet never gave fans the impression that the couple had a tense union.
The viral video showed White and his wife, Anna, speaking in a heated toned during the El Squid Roe party before the UFC chief grabbed his wife’s wrist. That led her to slap him as he tried to keep her flailing arms in check. In retaliation, Dana struck back harder before friends intervened.
Friends Support The Whites
Friends who witnessed the exchange up-close released statements and comments to inquiring outlets saying it wasn’t a “serious” incident as it lasted about a minute.
They acknowledged that it shouldn’t have escalated but wanted everyone to understand that it wasn’t as tense as it looked on camera since both parties were drunk.
Dana also opened up about the unfortunate incident in an interview with TMZ, saying, he and Anne were focusing on their children.
No Excuse For Hitting A Woman As A Man
Although the couple married in 1996, they’ve been friends for longer as they met during their pre-teens. In his TMZ Sports interview, Dana admitted that there wasn’t an excuse for going full UFC on his wife while highlighting his hypocrisy.
He regrets that this situation is public but can’t do anything about it. He’s embarrassed and worried about his kids’ reactions.
It’s All Love Moving Forward
Anne proved that it’s ride or die at the Whites’ house as she also released a comment defending her husband’s character. She admitted that the alcohol fueled their rage and made them act out of character. They’ve apologized to each other as a family and want people to respect their privacy for their kids’ sake.
