When an actor’s career is long and distinguished enough, it can become easy to see them less as a celebrity and more as an institution. And you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who’s built this legacy more than Clint Eastwood , about whom people from multiple generations can say they don’t remember a time when he wasn’t making a name for himself . Because even when we were too young to watch most of his movies, we heard all sorts of people imitate his iconic raspy voice. And as he continues to pursue a career spanning well over half a century, Eastwood has now officially reached his 92nd birthday .
Born in San Francisco on May 31, 1930, Eastwood attained his first movie roles in the mid-1950s.

Although many of these early parts were uncredited bits in war movies, that decade also saw him take on his first Western. By the 1960s, he would rise to prominence in this genre through films like The Good The Bad And The Ugly , A Fistful Of Dollars and Hang ‘Em High .
And by the next decade, audiences would see Eastwood start to embrace one of his other great passions in life: directing.

Starting with Play Misty For Me in 1971, Eastwood has gone on to direct over 40 films including gritty neo-Westerns like Unforgiven , and smash hits like Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino .
And Eastwood is still going after 66 years in the business as a new project he’s directed and starred in called ‘Cry Macho’ is set to release later this year.

According to Fox 2 , the list of achievements he’s made in that time include 13 Academy Awards, eight Golden Globes, and even a British Film and Television Award. So happy 92nd birthday to the man that we feel so lucky to have in our lives.
