Without a moment’s hesitation, Christian gave full credit to Sibi Blažić — his loving wife to whom he’s been married for more than 22 years.
Before Christian met Sibi, he never envisioned himself as the marrying type.
“Everyone was divorced in my family so I didn’t have very healthy ideas about marriage ,” he explained to the Sydney Morning Herald back in July of 2012.
“Then I met Sibi and suddenly it seemed a fantastic idea,” Bale said.
Christian first met his future wife back when she was still working as Winona Ryder’s assistant. At that time, Christian and Winona were working on the 1994 version of Little Women .
The pair began dating not long afterward and eloped in Las Vegas in the year 2000.
Since that time, Christian’s bat brood has expanded from a family of two to a family of four. Their daughter Emmeline was born in 2005 and Joseph Bale came along in August of 2014.
After parting ways with Winona Ryder, Sibi turned her attention toward her passion — being a stuntwoman.
“My wife was a stunt driver,” Christian said in a Q&A with The Wall Street Journal. “She was chasing me through the city in Batman .”
“She was driving one of the cop cars. She can do 180s and stunts and all that. She terrifies me,” Christian joked.
As terrifying and intimidating as Sibi can be at times, Christian is quick to praise his wife for her unrelenting support in all his professional endeavors.
When Christian won the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for “Best Supporting Actor,” he thanked his wife for all his success.
“I get choked up about that stuff,” Christian said while backstage. “It’s everything because I truly believe you can’t celebrate without having your partner with you .”
Sibi not only supports her husband at home, but she also makes a point to visit him at work.
Back in 2008, Christian explained to Parade how Sibi and his daughter would often come with him whenever he was filming on location. “These wonderful distractions actually make me better at what I do,” Bale said.
According to Christian, Sibi is without a doubt the strongest woman he’s ever come across in his life.
While Sibi isn’t one to gush to the cameras, suffice it to say that she feels the same way about her superhero hubby.
