If there’s one blanket statement I feel comfortable making for everyone, it’s that we all miss Robin Williams. Robin was so much more than an actor or comedian — he was a beacon of light to so many people. Not only did he represent so many childhood memories, but many of us grew up with him.
Now, all these years later, Robin’s Mrs. Doubtfire co-star Mathew Lawrence is opening up about the impact the actor had on his life.

As it turns out, beloved comedian Robin Williams wasn’t just a positive influence on his fans.
Unsurprisingly, the actor also made real-life differences with his co-stars and friends. Recently, Matthew Lawrence, who played Robin’s son in the classic 1993 film Mrs. Doubtfire , got candid about the advice Robin gave him all those years ago.
According to “People” Matthew said the reason he didn’t get into drugs was because of Robin’s advice to him one day on set.
Getting candid at ’90s Con, the actor said: “He was the first adult who really let me in on his condition. Like, full-on let me in. I mean, as bright as he was on camera — I would go visit him in his trailer to talk to him — it was painful for him.”
“It’s really painful for him. He didn’t hide it. He talked to me about it.”
The 42-year-old recalled Robin warning him about the dangers of drugs, saying: “Don’t ever do drugs. Especially cocaine. He was very serious.”
“He was like, ‘You know when you come to my trailer and you see me like that?’ He’s like, ‘That’s the reason why. And now I’m fighting for the rest of my life because I spent 10 years doing something very stupid every day. Do not do it.'”
“I stayed away from it because of him,” Matthew concluded.
Every story I hear further confirms that he was just the absolute best. We miss you every day, Robin!
