The CEO of OpenAI, the company that runs ChatGPT, has made a confession about how he uses artificial intelligence to raise his baby.
He welcomed his child this year
Sam Altman welcomed his first child in February of this year with husband Oliver Mulherin.
He announced the news on X, writing at the time, “Welcome to the world, little guy! He came early and is going to be in the NICU for a while.”
Altman expressed his excitement
“He is doing well and it’s really nice to be in a little bubble taking care of him,” Altman went on in the post. “I have never felt such love.”
Now, in a December 9 appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, Altman shared his insight on parenthood.
He admitted he uses AI for it
The tech CEO was asked if he uses ChatGPT to help raise his baby, to which he admitted, “I do.”
“I feel kind of bad about it because we have this genius level at everything intelligence sitting there and waiting to unravel the mysteries of humanity.”
Altman feels he’s not using it to its full potential
The CEO said that he often feels he’s not asking the AI ‘a good enough question’.
He added, “And I’m like, ‘Why does my kid keep dropping his pizza on the floor and laughing?’”
But he admitted he can’t parent without it
“I cannot imagine figuring out how to raise a newborn without ChatGPT,” Altman confessed.
“Clearly, people did it for a long time with no problem, so clearly it’s possible, but I have relied on it so much.”
People online thought this was ‘wild’
Over on social media, people reacted to Altman’s comments, with there seeming to be a divide on how they’re taking it.
One person wrote, “That’s wild! Start-up parenting tips from AI sound like the future!”
Others weren’t on board with it
While some agreed with Altman’s remarks and even found them relatable, others weren’t in favor of the idea.
One user on X wrote, “Jesus, if this is real… our generation is doomed.”
