Many of us merely dream about one day having fortune and fame. But it is a dream that one would want to achieve? Or do we take the advice of these celebrities, who say that fame isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be?
Is there any way we could get a trial run, maybe?
1. Shailene Woodley
The star of many great movies from Divergent to The Fault in Our Stars actually doesn’t like the spotlight all that much.
According to her, fame is a bad word.
“To me, the F-word is ‘famous.”
“And the C-word is ‘celebrity.’ I hate those words with a passion.” Well, I think it’s safe to say if you equate the “F-word” with “famous,” then, yeah, you definitely despise fame.
2. Zach Galifianakis
” Being a celebrity is [expletive] — it’s dumb and I’m not interested in it. I like to be an actor, and that’s it. We have people telling us, ‘We should pay attention to these people,’ for all the wrong reasons, their personal lives and whatnot … I’d rather just do my work and go home and watch Lifetime.”
3. George Clooney
” But the truth is, the big house on a hill is isolating. There’s no other way to say it. There are restrictions to this kind of fame. I haven’t walked in Central Park for 15 years. I’d like to, you know?”
You said it, pal.
4. Johnny Depp
According to Johnny Depp, fame is:
“A little bit like living like a fugitive. Everything has to be some sort of strategy. To get you into the hotel, to get you out of the hotel, to get you into the restaurant, to get you out of the restaurant.”
5. Robert Pattinson
“It’s strange, you don’t have a normal life anymore. You spend much time trying to fight it, but in the end you find another way to live. People don’t realize how lonely you are.”
6. Shia LaBeouf
We all remember when actual cannibal Shia LaBeouf put that bag over his head and declared he wasn’t famous anymore like a real-life Michael Scott.
It was crazy and totally goofy.
But he did that in response to allegations of plagiarism.
He said (or at least he tweeted):
“In light of the recent attacks against my artistic integrity, I am retiring from all public life. My love goes out to those who have supported me.”
7. Mark Walhberg
Does he regret becoming famous ? Who knows?
Does he regret having to be a rapper and a model in order to become famous? Absolutely.
He actually told Conan he was the, “biggest punk in the world.”
8. Kristen Stewart
She’s known to every girl in the world that grew up during the late 2000s and early 2010s, but is that something she really likes ?
If you’ve been paying attention, you know the answer is no.
“Fame is the worst thing in the world.”
“Especially if it’s pointless. When people say, ‘I want to be famous’ – why? You don’t do anything?”
She also said about red carpets: “Having that much human energy thrust at you and then being critically analyzed is obviously disarming.”
9. Megan Fox
” What people don’t realize is that fame, whatever your [sic] worst experience in high school, when you were being bullied by those 10 kids in high school, fame is that, but on a global scale, where you’re being bullied by millions of people constantly.”
10. Jennifer Lawrence
While she does like fame , she thinks celebs should get some time off from the spotlight:
“Yes. Three months. “Oh, it’s my three months off. You can’t photograph me.” I would love to be able to control being photographed.”
11. Kourtney Kardashian
Even a Kardashian sometimes has regrets about fame:
“I don’t want the show to end, but I sometimes think I would be so happy if it did and I could just move away from it all.”
12. Jack Gleeson
It must have been hard being Joffrey.
People don’t even know the real you and they’re sending you death threats online for something a character you played did on a fictional TV show .
That’s pretty much what happened to Jack Gleeson.
Which, in an attempt to escape his infamy, he announced a temporary retirement from acting in order to go to school for philosophy and theology.
A good fallback career, although he is pretty good at playing villains.
13. Daniel Radcliffe
If there’s one man out there who knows what it’s like to get too famous too early, it’s Daniel Radcliffe.
He has spoken about the trials and tribulations of being a child actor before.
He has mentioned how it can be hard to find oneself when you’re surrounded by paparazzi.
We should be happy he’s as stable as he seems today!
He did develop a drinking problem thanks to his early years, but in recent ones he’s been able to pull it together.
14. Kylie Jenner
Another person who has spent most of their life in the public eye is Kylie Jenner, and it has not been easy having to obsess about her appearance for all these years.
But one day, she may just stop being famous:
“I know I don’t want to be famous forever. There’s gonna be a time where I feel comfortable, I’m at a good place in my life, and I just stop.”
Yeah, ask Shia how that went.
And things get darker for Kylie. Sometimes she doesn’t even know who she is!
“There’s an image that I feel constantly pressured to keep up with. In order to stay relevant for the public, I have to be on Instagram and I have to be on Snapchat just keeping people entertained.”
“And then there’s who I really am around my friends. … It’s way easier for me to post on Snapchat or Instagram than it is to be out in public.”
“I just feel like for so long I’ve been putting on this different persona to the world — I felt like I started to depend on social media, feeling the need to post all the time. I feel like I have to keep up this idea of who I am.”

17. Justin Bieber
Oh man, the crap we gave this kid back in the early 2010s.
It feels like it has died down, but still, it must not have been easy for poor Justin Bieber .
When asked about whether he regrets becoming famous, he said:
“All the time. And I feel isolated. You’re in your hotel room and there are fans all around, paparazzi following you everywhere, and it gets intense. When you can’t go anywhere or do anything alone you get depressed.”
18. Katherine Heigl
Believe it or not, but in Hollywood it’s rumored that one of the most hated celebrities is Katherine Heigl.
Apparently, she’s got this nasty “holier than thou” attitude that everyone hates.
And so, because of that supposed hatred, Heigl stopped landing roles.
However, instead of trying to change her alleged behavior, she instead chose to blame fame. She claims that fame “got to her head” and that was the reason she got out of control.
