Some Hollywood couples are an open book, sharing intimate details about their relationship with anyone who will listen.
Some, however, are open in the sense that they allow others to intimately join their relationship…
All of this goes to show that the constructs of marriage aren’t like they used to be. From co-sleeping with kids to living states apart to polyamorous marriages, here are 15 celebs with non-traditional marriages.
1. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard

While most parents need private time away from their kids, the couple revealed on Dax’s Armchair Expert podcast that they sleep in the same room as their two kids.
2. Gwyneth Paltrow

The Goop founder tied the knot with Brad Falchuk, a movie and film producer, in September 2018 after three years of dating. But the pair didn’t live together for the first year of marriage.
“Oh, all my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal and we shouldn’t change a thing,” Paltrow told “The Sunday Times” about spending only four nights a week with Brad.

She also explained how her intimacy coach (yep, she has one of those) approved of their unconventional living arrangement. She said that it gave their marriage “polarity.”
3. Dolly Parton

While the country crooner prefers to keep her relationship private, she has shared that she and her husband, Carl Dean, have a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.
While she later clarified that this doesn’t mean cheating, she’s not opposed to flirting with other men.
4. RuPaul and Georges LeBar

While most couples live under the same roof, the Drag Race host lives in separate states as his partner!
LeBar lives on a ranch in Wyoming, with RuPaul coming to see him every three weeks.
5. Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher

In Demi’s memoir, Inside Out , the actress revealed that she and Ashton used to have threesomes.
However, this reportedly contributed to their divorce, with Demi writing that she felt “shame” as a result.
She also believed that inviting a third person into their bedroom caused Ashton to stray from the relationship.

“Because we had brought in a third party into our relationship, Ashton said, that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he’s done.”
6. Snooki and Jionni LaVelle
The former reality TV stars sleep in separate beds as a way to spend more time with their three kids.
Snooki sleeps with her daughter, while Jionni sleeps with their older son. The baby is in the crib for now.
7. Bryan Greenberg and Jamie Chung

The married pair starred together in the film, Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong . In order to break up the project a bit, they lived in separate apartments while making the romantic film.
8. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick

While a lot of Hollywood couples hate the distance that their work causes, Sarah and Matt appreciate it. “I know this sounds nuts, but we have lives that allow us to be away and come back together,” she said .
9. Nico Tortorella and Bethany C. Meyers
The Younger star and body-neutrality advocate have made headlines for their “queer polyamorous” relationship.
Both Tortorella and Meyers identify as nonbinary and use they/them pronouns. They also identify as each other’s “twin flames.”
As a polyamorous relationship, their marriage is open.
“My cheating philosophy… I mean, cheating is bad, right? But I think that an open relationship or a polyamorous relationship or an understanding of sorts is acceptable in this day and age,” Nico told Cosmopolitan .
10. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

If you thought their “conscious uncoupling” was unconventional, just wait until you hear about their open marriage!
“If Chris was playing around, Gwyneth didn’t care. She’s never been jealous or territorial. Her philosophy is, ‘We’re both adults. We make our own choices,'” a source allegedly told Access Hollywood .
11. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

For the 13 years that they were married, the pair were a match made in heaven.
That’s because they both reportedly agreed to an open marriage. “I doubt that fidelity is absolutely essential for a relationship,” Jolie allegedly said in an interview with German publication Das Neue .
12. Mo’Nique and Sidney Hicks

Mo’Nique and her husband have never been secretive about their open relationship.
“It was not Sidney’s idea to have an open marriage; it was mine,” Mo’Nique said on their podcast, Open Relationship . They also admitted that it’s made their relationship closer.
13. Margaret Cho and Al Ridenour

“I just don’t want to have s*x with the same person my whole life. That’s just gross,” Margaret said in an interview on The Real . She also added that since they have a big house, they stay on opposite sides.
14. Tilda Swinton and John Byrne

“There are some myths,” the actress told the Daily Mail of living with two men: her husband, John Byrne, and her boyfriend, Sandro Kopp.
“I can maintain my life with my children and their father and spend time with the man I’ve become very fond of. I am very fortunate there has been a lot of understanding by the men.”
15. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith

After many rumors of infidelity, the pair opened up about their open marriage. “Jada never believed in conventional marriage,” Will said in an interview with GQ , adding that they don’t want marriage to feel like a prison.
