On Sunday night, fans of British media tuned in to watch the annual award show honor both British and international contributions to film. As per tradition, the show paid their respects to actors and film crew who have passed away within the past year. While there always seems to be an omission, this year many fans felt the BAFTAs went too far with their exclusion of the late Betty White.
As you may recall, beloved actress and animal rights activist Betty White passed away on December 31st, 2021.

Her death came just a few weeks short of her 100th birthday and needless to say, fans of the comedy legend were shocked and devastated to learn of her passing on New Year’s Eve.
Since her death, fans have worked hard to keep her memory alive, most notably with “Betty White Day” which was celebrated on what would have been her 100th birthday, January 17.
Fans across the globe donated to local animal shelters in Betty’s name, and the fundraiser was a total success.
This passion from her fans means I’m not surprised at all at the backlash from Sunday night’s BAFTAs “In Memoriam” section, which excluded Betty.
While legends Peter Bogdanovich and Sidney Poitier were honored in tribute, Betty was notably missed.
Viewers soon took to Twitter to slam the show and their decision to leave out the “Golden Girls” star.
“How could the BAFTAs have an in memoriam and NOT include Betty White??” tweeted one fan.
“Where was the wonderful Betty White??” tweeted another .
The BAFTAs have yet to comment on the actress’ absence.
