When someone is diagnosed with cancer, the challenges that come with fighting the disease can ripple through their whole family. Even for those who aren’t close enough to face the disease alongside them, it can be hard to see someone they love in such clear suffering.
What doesn’t help is how volatile and unpredictable cancer can sometimes be. All signs can indicate a full recovery, only for a survivor to discover that the disease has suddenly returned and they have to go through it all over again.
Sadly, this experience is well known to the Chapman family.
Beth Chapman first came into national prominence alongside her husband Duane on their show ‘Dog The Bounty Hunter.’

The show chronicled the Chapman family’s bails bonds business and their adventures tracking down and apprehending those unfortunate enough to have skipped bail on their watch.
This has been Chapman’s profession for almost 30 years and her day-to-day tribulations with it have been documented off and on since 2004.

According to CNN , she was elected President of the Professional Bail Agents of the United States in 2016.
However, the next year would see Chapman undergo a challenge that would permanently change her life.

In September of 2017, she would be diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer. CNN reported that she had undergone surgery to remove the cancer by November, but it would eventually return a year later.
In the time since, she and her family have been very open about her experiences with the disease.

As she told People she elected to stop chemotherapy treatments and instead treat her cancer as the ultimate test of faith.”
And this journey has certainly found many ways to test her.

For instance, her fans were made aware of an April surgery that followed an accumulation of fluid in her lungs via a Facebook post.
But now, Chapman’s condition has become grim, as was made clear in a Saturday update.

According to Hawaii News Now , she was admitted to the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii and is now in a medically-induced coma.
This hospitalization apparently followed a “choking emergency” at her Hawaii home.

As TMZ reported , this appeared to be a direct consequence of her throat cancer, rather than anything external.
The next day, her husband Duane confirmed this report via a tweet calling for prayers for his wife.
And although details on this matter remain sparse, Chapman’s daughter, Bonnie later took to Instagram to share a small update.
All she could really say, however, was that Chapman was being well-cared for.

She expressed awareness that fans wanted more information, but the nature of a coma is such that there generally isn’t much reason to update others on someone’s condition unless a major change happens.
