The Met Gala is one of the most exciting days of the year for everyone who loves fashion, or, if you’re like me, if you love pretending you know anything about fashion and just want to judge other people. Whether it’s the Kardashian-Jenner clan showing up in…ahem, interesting clothes, or Blake Lively stunning everyone around her, it’s ALWAYS worth watching.
But this year, we got a surprise. Austen Butler, who will be playing Elvis Presley showed up at the Met Gala with Elvis’ ex-wife Priscilla. Needless to say, they looked amazing.
Ladies and gentlemen, Austin Butler is here to take our breath away.

On May 2nd, Butler appeared alongside other famous celebrities and attended the Met Gala looking drop-dead gorgeous, alongside Elvis Presley’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley. He had the smolder OUT.
He came to his very first Met Gala wearing an all-black Prada tux.

He paired it with a silver chain, and had some rings and pins to bring his look together. His hair is dyed his signature blonde color and he had it perfectly mussed.
But what people could not stop talking about (besides how handsome he is) was his guest of honor.

Butler, who will be playing Elvis Presley in the Baz Lurhmann-directed biopic , decided to bring Priscilla Presley as his date. And it worked out great for both of them.
Priscilla, who has already seen Butler in the movie which is to be released this summer, RAVED about his performance.
“For those curious about the new film ELVIS, Baz Luhrmann, the director, provided a private screening for me and Jerry Schilling at Warner studios recently.” she wrote on Facebook.
“This story is about Elvis and Colonel Parker’s relationship.” she continued.

“It is a true story told brilliantly and creatively that only Baz, in his unique artistic way, could have delivered. Austin Butler, who played Elvis is outstanding.”
“Halfway through the film Jerry and I looked at each other and said WOW!!!”

“Bravo to him…he knew he had big shoes to fill. He was extremely nervous playing this part. I can only imagine.”
She also praised the cast and crew, before circling back to the story itself.
“The story, as we all know, does not have a happy ending.”
“But I think you will understand a little bit more of Elvis’ journey, penned by a director who put his heart and soul and many hours into this film.”
Butler opened up at the Gala about his own feelings.
Butler, 30, said that making Priscilla and Jerry Schilling , Elvis’ former manager, “proud was really at the core of it all for me.”
I can imagine the pressure was ON for him.
“Making all the people who loved Elvis so much proud and doing [him] justice,” said Butler.

“I just set out to find his humanity as much as I could and bring that out with as much life as much as I could,”
As for the fans, they LOVED him.
The internet was going insane for how good he looked, and I mean, really, who can blame them? He turned up the charm, and he looked good doing it too. That’s my opinion, anyway.
Needless to say, I’m looking forward to his ‘Elvis’ biopic.
I personally think he will KILL IT. He already sounds so similar to him, it will be hard not to appreciate his performance I imagine.
Elvis premieres June 24, 2022.
