Aubrey Plaza is trending in Hollywood thanks to her performance in Mike White’s The White Lotus season two . She built a bond with her co-stars by pranking them on set with her deadpan humor. The group traveled to Four Season San Domenico Palace in Sicily, Italy, last Spring to film the movie.
The hotel restricted access to other tourists, thus giving The White Lotus stars free reins to explore its grounds.
Playing Pranks On Her Co-Stars
During this period, Plaza found a way to humor herself at the expense of her co-stars. The actress put a Blair Witch-style symbol on the floor of everyone’s bedrooms, including notes reading, “Here Lies.”
She also hired a bald man to scare the stars in their sleep, giving them the illusion of having a haunted experience.
When her co-stars Jon Gries, Meghann Fahy, and Andy DiMarco found the messages, Plaza feigned ignorance and then blamed Simona Tabasco and Beatrice Grannò for the pranks. So, DiMarco set up a mole who caught her in the act via hotel cameras.
Plaza told GQ,
Playing A Normal Role
Now that she’s done wonderfully with The White Lotus Plaza is looking forward to her production with Francis Ford Coppola. Before that, Plaza expressed joy that she acted in a “normie” role for the first time in years after being typecast in her last movies.
Surprisingly, Plaza says she shares traits with her on-screen character Harper – a straight-laced woman learning to live outside her comfort zone.
Promoting Indie Films
Plaza already broke the cycle with her Independent movie, Emily, the Criminal, which earned four Independent Spirit Awards nominations, including two personal ones for Best Lead Performance and Best First Feature.
The crime thriller featured her as a member of a Credit Card fraud ring. Plaza thanked the Independent Spirit Awards for recognizing her movie and supporting Indie productions.
2022 Was A Good Year

Plaza’s bold move with Emily, the Criminal, impressed Coppola leading him to invite the actress to his next big production, Megalopolis. She’s also in Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre alongside Jason Statham, whom Plaza said she scared on set.
She pointedly objectified the male actors like they do female actors and fancied herself the female James Bond for the production. Ultimately, Plaza believes she’s had a fantastic 2022.
