Ashley Graham is a strong force in the fashion and beauty world. This plus-size model will not let her size dictate the tides and she’s speaking up strongly against body shamers in the best way possible – celebrating her body and embracing those power curves.
The model did that recently, as she responded to some body-shaming tweets from a journalist which has since now been deleted.
Keep reading for the details.
An Inappropriate Tweet From A Journalist
The star responded to an unpleasant tweet from Sameera Khan who shared photographs of the model heading out to Tori Kelly’s birthday party in a stunning gold mini-dress that showed off her gorgeous curves and amazing legs.
The picture came with the caption “The fat positivity movement is getting out of hand.” We consider this comment as cruel and therefore won’t be quoting the rest.
Another tweet showed her Sports Illustrated cover which was placed next to Irina Shayk with the caption “Studies show that poor, stressed-out men prefer fat women like Ashley Graham. Wealthier men prefer slender women like Irina Shayk.”
Graham Reacted To The Mean Pictures
These mean tweet has prompted reactions from people who stood up for her before the model herself got involved. In a direct response to the dress pictures, Graham posted a photo of herself posing in the backless outfit and wrote.
Fans Are Sharing Their Stories With Graham
The model’s reaction sparked up a movement of women sharing their own pictures in swimwear and underwear and even random selfies as one captions a lingerie photo.
“Is this too far?” while another fan captioned her bikini picture “Out here glorifying obesity every day with my fine a**.”
The comments continued in numbers as a Twitter user wrote,
Graham Has Been Vocal About Body Shaming In The Past
Graham has always taken a loud approach to her fight against body shaming and promoting body positivity. Speaking at the Create & Cultivate conference in 2019, she revealed her tactics when dealing with internet trolls.
“I was wearing a really short, denim dress, and I had really high, thigh-high sock boots on,” she said. “I had a lot of cellulite hanging out. I had a little chug roll hanging out. It’s life, right? A girl wrote on my page and said, ‘Girl, your thighs are busting out of your pants. That cellulite is just kicking. I can’t believe you actually wore something like that.'”
To which she replied, “You’re right, ma’am. My cellulite and fat is hanging out of my pants and I am s**y AF.’ Because, why are we going to give room for trolls? I don’t have time for that.”
