Just hours after a source told Just Jared that Amber Heard had been completely cut from Aquaman 2 , the actress is speaking out against the rumor and calling it “insane.”
For several years now, Johnny Depp’s fans have been calling for Amber to be cut from the DC film franchise. Despite a petition and social media outcries, the film has stuck by its star.
Rumors have been swirling for the past week that Amber Heard had been officially cut from “Aquaman 2.”
During her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, Amber’s legal team claimed that her struggle to stay in the film’s sequel came from negative publicity.
“I had to fight really hard to keep my career,” Amber testified on May 17.
“After I got my temporary restraining order, I lost opportunities,” she explained. “I got canceled from jobs. I got dropped from a campaign I had shot.”
“I fought to keep my job in the biggest movie opportunity I had to date — ‘Justice League’, with the option [for] ‘Aquaman.'”
The 36-year-old added that she “fought really hard to stay in the [sequel]” but that “they didn’t want to include me in the film” and only shot a “very pared-down version” of her part.
Now, amidst a series of rumors that Amber had been cut from “Aquaman 2” and her role of “Mera” was going to be recast, the actress is defending herself.
Speaking with TMZ, Amber’s spokesperson made it clear that there was nothing to back up these claims, and that these rumors were just that — rumors.
“The rumor mill continues as it has from Day One — inaccurate, insensitive, and slightly insane,” the statement read.
While no one is clear on just how much Amber’s Mera will be in the Aquaman sequel— including Amber, it’s clear she is still going to be in it .
