Back in September, Amanda Bynes made her highly anticipated comeback to Instagram, and it’s been interesting to say the least.
She recently shared a video accusing the paparazzi of photoshopping her photos to make her look like she has “16 chins.”

Back in the day, Amanda Bynes was one of the most beloved and wanted people in Hollywood.
In 1999 she already had her sketch comedy show The Amanda Show .
And although she stole our hearts there, it was her romantic comedies that really solidified her in our hearts.
She’s The Man is probably one of her most loved movies ever.
Fans loved her ability to make us laugh until our stomachs hurt, and she achieved that in every role that she was in.
It was always such a delight to watch her.
Between that movie, “What a Girl Wants,” “Hairspray,” and “Easy A,” it seemed she would never stop being so powerful.
Not to mention her TV show What I Like About You .
But little did we know, she would not be like that forever.
Between going on and off Instagram and her breakdown, a lot has happened to her.
Let’s elaborate. Amanda Bynes is back on Instagram. It’s kind of a big deal.
After several years being on hiatus, she finally made a comeback to Instagram in September 2019 .
Let’s just quickly recap what the last decade has looked like for Amanda, and why she abandoned social media in the first place.
Amanda’s 2013 breakdown was an unfortunate situation, but it has become a staple in pop culture.
In hindsight, things started to go downhill for her in 2010 when she pulled out of the movie Hall Pass well into filming.
At the time, she announced that she was retiring from acting on Twitter, and then un-announced that she was retiring from acting — deleting her original tweet .
In 2012, she was arrested for driving under the influence and hitting another car.
She pleaded her case to President Barack Obama via Twitter.
“Hey @BarackObama… I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end,” she wrote .
By early 2013 Amanda was storming through social media, showing off her cheek piercings and taking credit for inventing the common online abbreviations, “ILY” and “LOL.”
She was also tweeting things like, “Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are ugly!”
In March, 2013, came her infamous tweets asking rapper, Drake, to “murder” her vagina.
Drake did respond to that tweet , though not on Twitter.
Drake told XXL, “I don’t even know who is doing that or what’s that about. If that is her, I guess it’s a little weird and disturbing.”
That was followed by Amanda sending a parade of threats to sue Perez Hilton and popular publications such as US Weekly and In Touch.
In May, 2013, came even more of her infamous tweets.
She tweeted to Rihanna, saying: “Chris brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough” and that she “almost named [her] new dog Rihanna.”
She insisted that she was “allergic to drugs and alcohol,” and concluded that she was pursuing a new career as a musician.
“Looking forward to a long and wonderful career as a singer/rapper!”
It’s as confusing to you as it was to the rest of us at the time.
Fast-forward to 2018, in an interview with Paper magazine, Amanda seemed like an entirely new person. In a good way.
“I’m really ashamed and embarrassed with the things I said. I can’t turn back time but if I could, I would,” she said . “And I’m so sorry to whoever I hurt and whoever I lied about because it truly eats away at me.”
“It makes me feel so horrible and sick to my stomach and sad. Everything I worked my whole life to achieve, I kind of ruined it all through Twitter. It’s definitely not Twitter’s fault — it’s my own fault.”
ANYWAY, Amanda is back. She graduated from college, she got a face tattoo — she’s living her best life.
But after seeing some photos of herself online taken by paparazzi, she is convinced that they have been conspiring against her to give her “16 chins.”
“I wanted to post a video on paparazzi and self-worth,” she said in a video on Instagram.
“Whenever I see a paparazzi photo, the majority of the time, I look nothing like myself.”
“I’m talking 16 chins… it’s an all-around terrifying experience to look myself up online .”
“I wanted to post this video to show I am just like you, I want to look my best,” she continued.
“Of course, I can take an unflattering shot, but the amount of unflattering shots I see online, I know they are being photoshopped.”
It’s unclear what photo exactly set her off, but we’re glad she got that off her chest!
Whether the paparazzi are actually taking the time to alter her photos for the worse or not, nobody likes seeing unflattering photos of themselves.
