Ever wondered what Gwyneth Paltrow thinks about her widely-criticized movie Shallow Hal ?
In a new interview, she just let her thoughts be known and she didn’t hold back.

Last week, Gwyneth Paltrow promoted her Netflix show, “The Goop Lab” in a unique way.
She and her best friend and Goop business partner, Kevin Keating, took a BFF test to see how well he really knows her.
Given that this is “Goop,” the first question was naturally about the infamous vagina candle.
The $75 candle has a very unique name: This Smells Like My Vagina — making it just one of Goop’s very unique items up for sale.
“Well, I’ve smelled the candle, but never a vagina,” Keating admitted.
When Gwyneth asked if the candle if a good feminist statement, he said yes and added that the candle actually smells fruity.
Sooo… there’s that.
When asked what her favorite performance was, Keating was right in saying her 2011 Grammys one.
The star guest-performed Cee-lo Green’s hit “Forget You” at the awards show.
“I was literally thinking about that in the car on the way over and I think you’re right,” she said.
“I mean, who doesn’t like to see a girl get up on the piano with high heels on?” Keating replied, making reference to the fact that she danced on a piano during the performance.
When it came to what was Gwyneth’s least favorite performance, Keating was right on the money by saying “Shallow Hal.”
This was the movie that she did with Jack Black in 2001.
According to IMDb , it’s about “a shallow man [who] falls in love with a 300-pound woman because of her inner beauty.”
Over the past several years, the movie has gained attention for all the wrong reasons.
It’s been called one of the most offensive movies ever made, with more and more people tweeting their criticisms towards it.
Despite a positive message at the end of it, the movie has been labelled “fatphobic.”
“Remember how Shallow Hal was fatphobic af and people still think it was a good movie…..” tweeted one user.
“The issue is that shallow Hal was super fatphobic. A lot of my fat clients talk about shallow hal as being one of those movies that taught them to hate their bodies. It makes me really sad,” added another.
So with all this controversy, it’s no wonder that Gwyneth agreed with her best friend’s answer.
“Mhm. Exactly,” she said.
“I’m not sure who told you to do that one, but it wasn’t me,” Keating quipped.
Paltrow then proceeded to slam the movie, calling it a “disaster.”
This isn’t the first time the Shakespeare In Love star has spoken out against the movie.
She spoke to W Magazine about her concerns when it first came out.
“The first day I tried [the fat suit] on, I was in the Tribeca Grand and I walked through the lobby,” she began.
“It was so sad; it was so disturbing. No one would make eye contact with me because I was obese.”
“I was wearing this black shirt with big snowmen on it,” she continued.
“For some reason, the clothes they make for women [who] are overweight are horrible. I felt humiliated because people were really dismissive.”
While “Shallow Hal” certainly has its critics — including Gwyneth — some fans were actually disappointed by her answer.
“Shallow Hal had a great message. Looks don’t matter but what it’s what lies beneath that counts. As someone who has struggled on and off with weight issues it always resonated with me. I’m disappointed that Gwenyth Paltrow feels this way,” added this person.
It’s created quite the debate online.
Her criticism has even been called “sad”:
“Shallow Hal had a great message and was funny. Maybe she didn’t learn anything from that whole experience and that’s sad.”
