Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have announced their split, and while all of our lives are now currently in shambles over it, we’re starting to realize that there may have been a few signs leading up to their breakup indicating the end of their marriage was near.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, it’s the end of an era. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are no more.
While this isn’t the first time the pair have broken up. But usually, thrice broken up is fairly permanent.

Miley and Liam’s whirlwind relationship all began on the set of “The Last Song” in 2009.
By 2010, they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend — going steady. In 2012 the pair announced their first engagement.
“I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam,” Cyrus told People .
By September 2013, their engagement was called off.
At which point, Miley’s Bangerz phase commenced.
She was wildin’ out a little bit — like most people do when they’re going through a breakup.
During their split, Miley was spotted getting pretty close with model Stella Maxwell.
Though the two never publicly confirmed their relationship, they didn’t do much to hide it either, being photographed kissing on multiple occasions.
In fact, Miley’s song “She’s Not Him” is rumored to be about Stella and Liam.
The lyrics deal with loving someone but her not being able to fill the place in her heart that someone else has left behind.
But our faith in love was restored when they finally got back together in October 2016.
Miley was sporting a brand new engagement ring, and the pair looked happier than ever.
In December 2018, the pair tied the knot in a secret ceremony.
They were married for seven months before announcing their separation.
And looking back, it seems as though there were several obvious signs that the pair were headed for that dreaded split .
1. Miley announced that she’s “sick of men” in June 2019.
While recently singing her hit “Wrecking Ball” at the Tinderbox Festival in Denmark — a song originally written about their initial breakup, she uttered the words “I’m [expletive] sick of men”.
2. Both Miley and Liam were photographed without their wedding rings on.
Let’s address the elephant in the room. Neither Miley or Liam have been wearing their wedding rings, and we have proof .
However, to be fair, Miley did say back in 2016 that wedding rings aren’t really her “aesthetic”.
3. Miley was also photographed several more times by herself, not wearing her wedding ring.
Fans noticed in a series of Instagram posts that Miley’s wedding ring was nowhere to be found, and started to get suspicious of the split.
4. The pair stopped posting tributes to each other on Instagram in early June 2019.
The last couple-photo Liam posted to his Instagram was on June 2nd.
The last photo Miley posted a photo with Liam was from the 2019 Met Gala .
5. Miley was posting risqué photos on Instagram.
Miley has hardly ever been modest. But it seemed a little bit peculiar that she was suddenly posting such a suggestive photo on social media, and fans grew suspicious.
6. Miley explained in an interview that she isn’t the conventional wifey type.
In an interview with Elle , Miley opened up about her sexuality and what it has been like being in a heterosexual marriage.
“I think it’s very confusing to people that I’m married. But my relationship is unique,” she said.
“And I don’t know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it’s so complex, and modern, and new that I don’t think we’re in a place where people would get it. I mean, do people really think that I’m at home in a [expletive] apron cooking dinner?”
“I’m in a hetero relationship, but I still am very sexually attracted to women,” she went on.
“People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still [expletive] good, and I know that. I made a partner decision. This is the person I feel has my back the most. I definitely don’t fit into a stereotypical wife role. I don’t even like that word.”
7. Liam hasn’t been promoting her new music on his social media.
Liam is nothing if not a supportive boo, and when Miley’s had projects come out in the past, they have been all OVER his feed.
Like this post, where he was promoting her album Younger Now.
He captioned the shot of the album’s cover with, “Check out this little hotties new album! She’s got a bright future ahead 😉 Get it while it’s hot! #youngernow.”
He was always promoting her stuff.
Even when she had nothing in particular to promote — like when he shared this picture and captioned it “Girls got talent. She might just make it…WOW to the awesome dude (me) for taking such an incredible photo.”
But there’s been Instagram silence from him when it comes to her new album, She Is Coming.
Not a single post! Which is pretty unheard of for Liam. We should’ve known he would’ve been all over hyping his wife up under any other circumstance.
8. They had different ideas about having kids.
Liam told GQ Australia that once they didn’t “have so many dogs,” he wanted to have “10, 15, maybe 20” kids with Miley. Okay, so he was probably exaggerating a little, but he definitely was looking forward to it.
Miley had different ideas, though.
When speaking to Elle Magazine about climate change, Miley said, “We’re getting handed a piece-of-[expletive] planet, and I refuse to hand that down to my child. Until I feel like my kid would live on an earth with fish in the water, I’m not bringing in another person to deal with that.”
Miley went on to speak about how the world perceives women who don’t want children.
“If you don’t want children, people feel sorry for you, like you’re a cold, heartless [expletive] who’s not capable of love. Why are we trained that love means putting yourself second and those you love first? If you love yourself, then what? You come first.”
9. Miley was seen vacationing and making out with Kaitlynn Carter in Italy just before news of the split broke.

The song playing is SMS (Bangerz) , off Miley’s album also called Bangerz, written and released after Miley and Liam’s first split in 2013. The line Miley sings along to is “Why I need his milli’s when I got Billy on the speed dial?”
At the time it seemed like harmless jamming to an old song, but after news of the split, it feels a lot more pointed.
