Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth Announce Split After Seven Months Of Marriage

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have split after just seven months of marriage, a rep confirmed to People.

The pair tied the knot in December of 2018.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth first met and began dating on the set of "The Last Song".

At the time, Miley was 17 and Liam was 19-years-old.

Since then, they have had a rocky relationship that was magnified in the public eye.

Throughout their teen years, they dated on and off (as most teens tend to do).

Miley confirmed that they were engaged in June 2012.

Still, they called their relationship off, only to reunite in 2016, when she confirmed her re-engagement.

On December 23rd, 2018, they surprised fans by getting married.

It was a small wedding, with only close friends and family attending at her Tennessee home.

Tish, Miley's mother, shared the first few parents-of-the-bride photos, and they were perfect.

It was a low-key event that melted the hearts of Miley fans everywhere.

Miley looked elegant in a made-to-order Vivienne Westwood dress, but still couldn't help being her shamelessly un-elegant self.

After the wedding, they appeared to be living in newlywed bliss - for a time, anyway.

In an interview on _Live With Kelly And Ryan_, Liam opened up about Miley's decision to take his last name.

He appeared to get choked up during the story: "She took my name, which was great. I think that was, honestly, one of the best things about it. I didn't ask her to take my name. And then she was like, 'no of course I'm taking your name.'"

A rep for Miley confirmed that the pair had decided to split after less than a year of marriage.

"Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers," they explained.

"They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

It's safe to say that long-time fans of the couple are devastated by the news.

Some fans grew suspicious of the split when Miley posted a photo on Instagram without her wedding ring yesterday.

Some fans are choosing to give up on love altogether.

I mean, can you blame them?

It was in July of this year that Miley opened up about her "complex" marriage to Liam.

Tumblr

"I think it's very confusing to people that I'm married," she said.

She continued,

"And I don't know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it's so complex, and modern, and new that I don't think we're in a place where people would get it."

I mean, do people really think that I'm at home in a [expletive] apron cooking dinner?"

(For the record, I don't think anyone thought that.)

She also revealed that despite being married to a man, she's still attracted to women.

Hollywood Life

"People become vegetarian for health reasons, but bacon is still [expletive] good, and I know that."

"I made a partner decision," she said.

Seventeen

"This is the person I feel has my back the most."

"I definitely don't fit into a stereotypical wife role," she continued, "I don't even like that word."
