When people are in casual relationships , many things can transpire. Sometimes, one person is more invested in the other. Other times, people can have mixed communication and messages and end up getting hurt. Sometimes, without expecting it, people can end up with unexpected pregnancies and babies—without planning or even wanting them.
Casual relationships can also leave a lot of questions unanswered.

When two people are casual and one person ends up pregnant, there can be a lot of questions. Sometimes, people wonder if the baby is theirs because things are casual and they could be seeing other people as well. Therefore, many times, people want to get tests done to see proof.
Paternity tests are rather common.

When men might be uncertain as to who the father of their partner’s baby may be, they can ask for a paternity test. This is especially the case if the relationship is so casual. However, not many people ask for “maternity tests.”
One Reddit user shared the story of their friend and his situation.

The Reddit user shared that his friend Dan found out a girl he had been seeing, Kara, is pregnant. The two were casual and on and off for quite some time, so Dan was pretty unsure if he was definitely the father of Kara’s baby.
Kara was being rather mature though.

Kara said she would get a paternity test done when the baby was born to see if Dan was the father or not, and, that Dan wouldn’t have to be “tied” to the baby until there was “proof” that he was definitely the father. Dan was appreciative of this. But, he was also skeptical of one thing.
Dan doesn’t think the baby is Kara’s.

Despite seeing proof that Kara is definitely pregnant through a maternity shoot on social media, and also seeing Kara in person and seeing she’s definitely pregnant, Dan still thinks the baby may not be hers. Dan is convinced the baby is not “biologically Kara’s.”
The Reddit user told his friend he’s an “idiot.”

“I tried to explain to him that that’s not how biology works and unless she got an embryo implanted in her then she’s definitely the mother. She’s a waitress and works for minimum wage + tips so I doubt she has the money to afford an embryo implantation,” he said.
Dan, however, is insisting on Kara taking a “maternity test.”

Dan still is not convinced that the baby is hers and thinks that Kara may be trying to “trap” him into fatherhood. The Reddit user said that Dan is unemployed, and 32-years-old living with his parents. There is nothing to trap. However, Dan and their other friends think the Reddit user is being insensitive.
Many people on Reddit were dumbfounded by this.

The majority of people on Reddit could not believe that anyone could be so naive when it comes to parenthood and childbirth. Unless Kara was a surrogate for someone else, there is absolutely no way that the baby is not “biologically hers.”
Another said a “free maternity test” is easy.

Major_Barnacle_2212 said that if Dan wants a free maternity test, he should stand in the delivery room and watch Kara give birth to the baby. There is absolutely no way that someone could think a woman can get pregnant and the baby not be theirs.
Some asked why this Reddit user is even friends with Dan.

“His family and mine have been friends since our grandparents were kids. I grew up with Dan and he’s always been a bit kooky, but I didn’t think he was this kooky. I certainly hope for not only Kara’s sake but also the world that it’s not Dan’s kid lol I agree the world needs less idiot,” the Reddit user wrote.
Apparently, this isn’t new.

“I work in family court and you would not believe the number of men who indignantly ask, ‘well why doesn’t she have to take a maternity test?!’ when they’re mad about being court-ordered to take a paternity test,” shared Reddit user DiBerk4711 .
