Cameron Diaz has no regrets about stepping away from show biz to focus on her husband, Benji Madden, and their two-year-old daughter Raddix.
A representative of the 49-year-old recently revealed to Us Weekly that she is happy with her decision and seemingly doesn’t plan on ending her hiatus anytime soon.
In case you haven’t noticed, Cameron Diaz has been quietly keeping a low profile these days.
The Charlie’s Angels star hasn’t been in a film since the releases of Annie, Sex Tape, and The Other Woman — all of which came out in 2014.
Time flies, amirite?
After tying the knot with her husband, Benji Madden, and welcoming their daughter Raddix in 2019, Diaz decided she wanted to take a step back from the spotlight and focus on her husband and child.
While their family has kept an extremely low profile over the years, she recently opened up about her marriage while speaking as a guest on Michelle Visage’s Rule Breakers podcast.
“He’s really taught me to value myself a lot more,” she said of Madden, before admitting that she didn’t expect that to happen because she “was receiving so much validation elsewhere and in all these other ways.”
She added that her relationship with Madden is what taught her to be “all in.”
“With our marriage, I learned how to really go all in. You know what I mean? … Nothing else comes before this,” Diaz shared.
“We know that, no matter what, we can just go and be just a family anywhere, and we’re fine,” she explained .
“We don’t need any of the things that we have, other than each other.”
In a 2018 appearance on Hart to Hart , Diaz touched on her choice to become “semi-retired.”
“I just looked around and there were so many parts of my life that I wasn’t touching and that I wasn’t managing,” she said.
“And I couldn’t really manage, because everything was so massive,” she continued .
A representative subsequently revealed to Us Weekly that Diaz has been in a great place mentally amid her hiatus from acting.
She has no regrets about stepping away from her career and still finds lots of ways to keep busy. Cameron even launched her own wine company called Avaline.
The source revealed that Madden “…definitely supported and helped her with the prices.”
He “had her back” and “agreed” with the actress’ decision to take a break from acting.
“[It was] something that was clearly vital for Cameron’s soul,” they added . “It’s been a really fun journey doing something she loves and building up her brand.”
“Plus, she and Benji make time for date nights and trips away as often as they can,” the source said.
Diaz is “so happy and grateful” to have the extra downtime, which often includes cooking, gardening, and redecorating.
Madden and Diaz recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary.
To mark the occasion, Madden wrote a sweet tribute to his wife and family on Instagram.
“Today 7 years married. Always dreamed of having a family like this. Happy, peaceful, consistent, loyal and unconditional equally filled with passion and depth,” he wrote.
Many fans swooned over the sweet anniversary message.
“The only real challenge we have is making time go slower ’cause life goes by fast in the happy lane,” he wrote.
Diaz has also been open about her life as a mom.
While the actress wasn’t sure if she would ever want to take on the role of a parent, it turned out to be a matter of waiting for the right time.

“It’s just a different time in my life now,” she said in an interview. “Now I’m here, and this is the most fulfilling thing that I’ve ever done in my life.”
The insider revealed that she hardly relies on a nanny. “[She] tries not to rely on nannies all that much. … There’s not a day that goes by that she doesn’t thank her lucky stars for being in this position.”
