Princess Diana is, quite possibly, one of the biggest, most influential style icons of our time. She trail-blazed the way for not only future royals, but fans as well!
Seeing as it was recently announced that a movie about Diana is in the works, starring Kristen Stewart , we figured what better time to look back on some of her best looks!
It’s no secret that although Diana was a princess, she was a style *queen*!

To this day, her past looks serve as an inspiration to many, including Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle , and countless others.
She was truly timeless! So much so that she remains a fashion icon to this day.
1. February 24, 1981.

Fun fact: This was the day that Diana’s engagement to Prince Charles was announced. She looks absolutely stunning!
She certainly dressed the part of a royal-to-be in this blue skirt set, white blouse, and black leather clutch.
2. November, 1982.

If you ask me, this is peak ’80s fashion, and no one else but Diana would have been able to pull this up.
The color, the frills, the shape, the pattern, the one-shoulder strap — Diana did not hold back on this one.
3. March, 1983.

Diana wore this pink, floral get-up with pearls and a matching pink hat during her visit to Perth, Australia in the early ’80s, as part of her royal duties alongside Prince Charles, and she looked stunning!
4. September, 1984.

Kate Middleton sported a look strikingly similar to this one just after giving birth to her firstborn, and it’s clear where she drew her inspiration from!
This photo was from the day that Prince Harry was born.
5. April 20, 1985.

Diana wore this nautical-inspired look by Catherine Walker and hat by Kangol at a naval base in La Spezia during her Royal Tour of Italy.
This outfit couldn’t have been more fitting for the circumstance! We love it!
6. January 27, 1988.

This dress is gorgeous! I would totally wear that.
Diana wore another look by Catherine Walker, along with a sparkling diamond and sapphire necklace and silver heels to an event in Melbourne, during the Royal Tour of Australia.
7. May, 1988.

Here’s Diana in full mom attire with Prince William, wearing jeans, boots, a loose graphic t-shirt, a ball cap, and a blazer.
She made this outfit look good and no one can tell me otherwise.
8. November 9, 1988.

Surprise, surprise, another 10/10 Catherine Walker original! How was she able to look so flawless?
Diana wore this striking, white pantsuit to dinner at Chateau de Chambord during an official visit to France, alongside Prince Charles, of course.
9. June, 1994.

This one might be her most iconic look of all!
She wore this daring, black, risqué, off-the-shoulder, shoulder mini dress by Christina Stambolian, with black nylons, black heels, and jewels at the Serpentine Gallery in London.
10. November, 1995.

One thing we all loved about Diana, is that even though she was royalty, she wasn’t afraid to dress down!
This is such a look. Casual or not. I am obsessed. No one was able to do it like she was.
11. October, 1996.

Okay, no one can tell me that this wasn’t one of Diana’s best looks. Don’t @ me.
She wore this blue, satin, one-shoulder gown with matching blue shoes, clutch, and diamond earrings to visit The Victor Chang Research Institute dinner dance during her visit to Sydney, Australia.
12. June, 1997.

This look would slay, even in 2020. It’s the kind of look that would be on Gossip Girl .
Diana wore this baby blue, sequent mini dress with matching blue heels, to watch a performance of the ballet, Swan Lake in the summer of 1997.
13. July, 1981.

Last but certainly not least, who could forget Diana’s jaw-dropping wedding gown?! Look how freaking beautiful!
While the gown might be dated in many aspects now, it is still such a monumental style moment of hers.
There are *so* many other memorable looks that Princess Diana served us — far too many to count, tbh.
While she was taken from us far too soon, there’s no doubt that she left behind an incredible legacy.
