Fans of legendary guitarist Carlos Santana were shocked on Tuesday night when the 74-year-old musician collapsed on stage, as reported by WDIV-TV. While performing at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkson, Michigan, medical professionals appeared on stage before the musician was rushed to the hospital.
Carlos is known best for his band Santana, which pioneered the fusion of Latin American jazz and rock n’ roll.
Now, fans are receiving a health update after the alarming event.
Carlos Santana was reportedly only twenty minutes into a set on Tuesday night when he collapsed on stage.
According to a Tweet by Fox 2 Detroit reporter Roop Raj, the audience was “asked to pray for him because of a ‘serious medical’ issue.”
A concertgoer told The Detroit News that Santana was performing his hit song “Joy” when he abruptly collapsed.
“He was walking, playing and all of a sudden went down,” a woman named Janet Brown told the Detriot news outlet.

As reported by Variety, Carlos’ privacy was protected by a black tarp as he was tended to by medical professionals before being transported to a local hospital.
Carlos’ manager Michael Vrionis said in a press statemen t that the guitarist is “doing well” while being monitored at the hospital.
On Facebook early Wednesday morning, Carlos explained what happened to him.
“Just taking it easy,” he wrote. “Forgot to eat and drink water so I dehydrated and passed out. Blessings and miracles to you all,” he concluded.

His manager gave a formal statement on Carlos’ social media confirming he had been “over-taken by heat exhaustion.”
Speaking with “People” the 74-year-old’s management gave a statement, saying: “The guitar great was taken from his show at Pine Knob Music Theatre (formerly DTE Energy Music Theatre), an outdoor amphitheater in Clarkston, some 40 miles northwest of Detroit, Michigan.”
“Carlos was taken to the emergency department at McLaren Clarkston for observation and is doing well.”
