It’s time for every royal watcher’s current favorite activity: baby rumor debunking!
Because if you’re a true fan, you’re more interested in having accurate information out there. Gossip is just not for you.
Let’s go break down this ridiculousness and rid it from the world, once and for all.
Rumor #1: They’re secretly dropping gender hints.
The current popular theory is that Meghan and Harry are secretly trying to tell us what the gender of their baby is via style hints.
What color are Meghan’s nails? Is she wearing anything blue, or pink? Is Harry’s tie color a clue?
Plot twist: They don’t even know what the gender is.

No, really. Or if they do, they are entirely uninterested in revealing it to the public before the birth of their child.
The Duchess even told a young fan that they don’t know what their baby’s gender will be.
Rumor #2: They’ll raise their child gender fluid.

The information on this one is a little mixed, and very inaccurate.
Some claim that the child will be raised gender fluid, while others claim it will be raised without gender stereotypes.
Just a quick PSA.
For the record, being gender fluid means that you may identify with a gender outside of the gender binary of male and female, or identify as both and move comfortably between the two.
For example, some (but certainly not all) high-profile drag queens identify as gender fluid.
Avoiding stereotypes is, naturally, a wildly different thing.
The palace issued a statement.

Apparently, this was grounds for a comment from the palace itself.
A spokesman said, “This story is totally false.”
Anyway, raising your kid without gender stereotypes is a good idea, as is raising any kid without any stereotypes. Gender fluidity is something they’ll figure out for themselves.
Rumor #3: And the godparents are…

So, for those of us that aren’t royal, it’s kind of a no-brainer to pick our siblings as godparents, right? (If you have one, that is!)
Gossip around the palace is that Harry and Meghan want Kate Middleton and Prince William as the godparents…but there’s a catch.
…Not Kate and William!

According to royal tradition, brothers and sisters aren’t chosen as godparents.
This is due to their familial relation — they’ll already be in the baby’s life as uncles or aunts, so usually, friends or other family members are chosen.
Rumor #4: The baby will be a prince or princess.
Kate and William’s children are all known as Prince or Princess, but what about Harry and Meghan’s child?
Some contenders include Prince/Princess, or perhaps Earl or Lady. It won’t be Duke or Duchess, as that title will be inherited from Harry.
In fact, it may not have one at all.

There are a lot of factors at play in giving a title to the baby.
One possibility is that the baby will be granted the tile of Prince or Princess from the queen. Otherwise, there’s no way it will hold that title.
Another is that the baby not be given a title…but that seems a little odd.
Their child will be in line for the throne, however.
As the child of Harry and Meghan, the newest royal baby will be 7th in line for the throne.
That puts it behind Prince Charles, William, George, Charlotte, Louis, Harry, and Charles’ brother, Prince Adam.
Rumor #5: The baby will be raised in a palace.

This theory holds water, as the Duke and Duchess already reside at Kensington Palace.
They currently live at Nottingham Cottage, which they’ve been in since their engagement. The Cottage is located on the grounds of Kensington Palace.
Harry is familiar with the place.
Another reason it was a good guess? Harry has actually lived their since 2013.
It was also the residence of William and Kate after their wedding. It was called the “royal starter home,” because that’s a thing, apparently.
However, the two are planning to move a little farther away.

Unlike William and Kate, who remain on the palace grounds, Harry and Meghan are heading to a different castle.
They’re heading to Frogmore Cottage, which is on the grounds of Windsor castle. It’s also where they were married last year.
Rumor #6: They’re expecting twins.
So, apparently, they have for real betting pools on this in England? Y’all are wild over there.
Some places have had to suspend taking bets on if the royal baby is, in fact, two babies. Far too many have been placed, and it’s making everyone suspicious that someone knows something they don’t.
It’s fully not twins.

Taking one look at Meghan will confirm that!
Of course, not all women carry the same, but surely twins would have been more noticeable than this, right? Let me know.
Additionally, both Harry and the Duchess have exclusively referred to their future child in single-digits.
