He proposed to his wife and co-star, Faith Hill, at a country music festival.

Both Faith and Tim were performing that night, and Tim said that he was feeling nervous. Right before he was about to go on stage, he popped the question but Faith never answered. Midway through the set, she held up a sign that said “Yes! I’m gonna be your wife .”
Tim is a published author, with several books to his name.

Tim has written two childrens’ books alongside co-author, Tom Douglas. He’s also written “Songs of America: Protest, and the Music That Made a Nation” as well as ” Grit & Grace: Train the Mind, Train the Body, Own Your Life .”
Tim’s assortment of tattoos will probably surprise you.

Tim has a total of five tattoos to date. Four of which you can see, one that you cannot. His first and only hidden tattoo is of a leprechaun wearing a cowboy hat, located on his thigh. And yes, he was very drunk at the time.

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert , Tim informed Stephen that he used to be a bareback rider in his younger years. Bareback riders don’t use a saddle, so it’s kind of like riding a jackhammer with one hand.

Tim asked her daughter’s young suitor to come by the house in order to introduce himself. He’d spent the morning butchering beef , and when the boy knocked at the door — Tim answered, covered in blood while holding a knife.

While making a joint appearance on The Ellen Show , host Ellen DeGeneres convinced Tim and Faith to play a game of “Never Have I Ever.” When the couple was asked “Never have I ever used my spouse’s toothbrush without telling them,” both emphatically replied that they had.

In one of the pivotal moments in Season 1, Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill) slaps her husband James (McGraw) as hard as she can. Tim explained to ExtraTV that Faith really did, in fact, hit him — and the scene took 10 takes to film.
