Unlike the Kardashians, Nicki Minaj, or Cardi B, some celebs aren’t really the “clap-back” type. But when they do, it’s something we can’t help but notice.
It’s a lot like seeing a fish out of water, really. But even though they’re a bit out of their element, they seem to handle themselves just fine.
Sam Smith vs. his ex-boyfriend
During Sam’s 2015 Grammy acceptance speech , he made sure to thank his ex boyfriend for breaking his heart, claiming that is the reason for all of his great music.

Blake Lively vs. fan
A very confused fan commented on one of Blake’s photos on Instagram , saying: “I say this with so much love & respect for you babe, please hire a stylist or fire the one you’re currently with.”
And Blake couldn’t have clapped back in a better way. “Thank you for the tips, sir. Alas, I’ve tried to fire @blakelively so many times. But that b–ch just keeps coming back. She won’t leave me alone.”
Seth Myers vs. Cole Sprouse
When Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes were guests on The Late Show With Seth Meyers , discussing Riverdale , Seth said “Tell me something real quick. Who is Cole Sprouse?” and everyone in the room was shocked.
Seth later awkwardly apologized to Cole for throwing shade.
J.K Rowling vs. internet trolls
You wouldn’t necessarily expect the author of a beloved children’s book series to clap back at people on Twitter. But J.K. Rowling gave this guy a piece of her mind when he tried to say that Serena Williams looks like a man.
Ellen vs “Will & Grace”
While interviewing Will & Grace ‘s Sean Hayes, Ellen threw the tiniest bit of shade, and it was hilarious.
When Sean was asked how long his show has been on air, he hit Ellen with a dig, referencing the fact that her show is celebrating its 15th anniversary, replying: “Longer than 15 years.”
But Ellen was quick to clap-back , “How long was it the first time around, before y’all got cancelled?”
Cher vs. internet troll
Cher tweeted that Americans should take Dreamers into their homes to protect them, and that she will be doing the same.
A Twitter troll responded to the tweet “Sure you will Cher.. I’ll believe it when I see it!”
“Then keep your eyes open b–ch,” Cher responded.
Ashley Graham vs. Victoria’s Secet

Calvin Harris vs. Taylor Swift
In the now deleted tweets, Calvin Harris dragged his ex girlfriend, Taylor Swift through the mud just after their breakup.
Kate Hudson vs. Donald T***p
Kate Hudson isn’t exactly the type of person to throw shade, let alone on a politically controversial topic. But when it came to President T***p, she did not hold back.
She posted this photo on Instagram, using one of her movies to get her point across.
Hilarious, and clever.
Sarah Hyland vs. “Life & Style”

Giada has Nicole and Ellen taste her home-cooked flatbread and Nicole actually spits it out, saying “It’s a little tough.”
Miley Cyrus vs. Ed Sheeran and John Mayer
In an interview with Billboard , the reporter asks Miley what her upcoming album was going to be like.
Based on Miley’s song Malibu , the reporter says “it’s pretty singer-songwriter-y, no?”
“Yeah. But not granola. I don’t listen to Ed Sheeran and John Mayer and stuff.” Miley said.
Ouch!
Demi Lovato vs. Halsey
In an interview with Paper , Halsey takes a stance on what she thinks about female pop stars who exploit bisexuality.
“Oh, yeah. Bisexuality as a taboo. ‘Don’t tell your mom’ or ‘We shouldn’t do this’ or ‘This feels so wrong but it’s so right,’” said Halsey. “That narrative is so f–king damaging to bisexuality and its place in society.”
This was Demi’s response to that.
Pink vs. internet troll

Hilary Duff vs. internet trolls
Our sweet, innocent Hilary Duff is all grown up, and is taking a stand against body-shamers.
“I am posting this on behalf of young girls, women, and mothers of all ages. I’m enjoying a vacation with my son after a long season of shooting and being away from him for weeks at a time over those months. Since websites and magazines love to share ‘celeb flaws’ – well I have them! My body has given me the greatest gift of my life: Luca, 5 years ago. I’m turning 30 in September and my body is healthy and gets me where I need to go. Ladies, lets be proud of what we’ve got and stop wasting precious time in the day wishing we were different, better, and unflawed. You guys (you know who you are!) already know how to ruin a good time, and now you are body shamers as well. #kissmyass”
Kirsten Dunst vs. the new “Spider-Man”
When Kirsten was asked about the new Spider-Man reboot, in an interview with Variety her answer was shady as h**l.
“I don’t care.”

While in the movie theatre seeing IT , James tweeted “OK five minutes in and IT is already awful stay tuned for updates.”
“Why are you on your phone in the movie theater? Rule 1.” Finn replied , and the whole internet had his back. James later deleted his tweet shading the film.
Halsey vs. Victoria’s Secret
“Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show? No, I don’t think we should,” said the chief of marketing at Victoria’s Secret .
Halsey did not take too kindly to this comment , as she shouldn’t, and she clapped back at the entire franchise by posting this on Instagram.
Kelly Clarkson vs. the VMAs

Simone Biles vs. internet troll
In a since deleted comment on Instagram, someone wrote: “Seems like u have partied non stop for a year #trash #unfollow #suckyassrolemodel.”

Zendaya vs. internet troll
Zendaya is America’s sweetheart. There’s no way around that.
