Amanda Bynes' Night Out On St Patrick's Day Before Psychiatric Hold

On Sunday morning, the 36-year-old actress was spotted walking near downtown Los Angeles with no clothes on. She flagged down a car before calling 911 on herself.

Bynes is currently admitted to the hospital on a 5150 psychiatric hold, which means she is held for 72 hours for assessment, whether she likes it or not.

Fortunately, she doesn't seem to have sustained any injuries from the incident.

Nevertheless, news of Amanda Bynes' hospitalization came as a surprise to many, as it appeared she was doing better just days before.

In fact, she was spotted out and about on St. Patrick's Day with a friend, appearing to be in good spirits. This was not even two days before she was hospitalized.

In an exclusive DailyMail video, the former child actress can be seen walking down the Hollywood Walk of Fame donning her black t-shirt with a bone design. Her ensemble was completed by comfortable joggers and sneakers as she strolled alongside her friend.

Amanda looked pretty composed as she conversed with her friend during their evening out. She was even seen on a random fan's TikTok video, which went public after the news broke out.

The caption read, "Happy she's getting the help she needs. She was sweet, gave her some money, and talked. Sometimes [people] just need [someone] to talk to."

The TikTok video itself shows the fan and Amanda talking to the camera. The fan says, "I saw her walking. Had to say, 'What's up?'" Amanda then says back to the camera, "What's up?"

This is why fans and former coworkers alike were shocked when they found out about what happened.

It seemed like such a sudden turn of events -- one day, she was out and about, enjoying her night, and the next, she was in serious medical distress.

However, it seems that for her former fiance, Paul Michael, it wasn't really a surprise. He alleged that the troubled star had stopped taking her medication prior to the incident.

Amanda and Paul first announced their engagement in March 2020 in a now-deleted Instagram post on Amanda's Instagram account. It was also the first time that fans had ever heard of Paul Michael, who Amanda seems to have met in the facility where she tried to get sober.

At the time, Amanda was still in conservatorship under her parents' care, so there was some talk about whether they would permit the marriage.

However, the engagement was broken off three months later. The two did reconcile once more in July 2020, but they also broke up for good that same month.

They were last seen together in December of 2022, and Paul claims that they're still friends.

In an exclusive interview with Page Six after Amanda's psychotic break, Paul said, "She got off her meds, and she’s still off her meds. She’s wild."

It's important to note that both sides have been accusing each other of "getting off of meds" for a while now, though.

In a very public accusation, Amanda said on her Instagram that Paul neglected to take his medications, reverting back to crack cocaine usage and watching inappropriate content such as mom-and-son pornography. This apparently led her to "kick him out" of her house.

Paul didn't agree with his ex's version of events. "She tried to kick me out, but I left to get my own place."

He also said that her allegations against him were completely false and that she only did that in order to distract the public from her own issues, such as her mental health problems and even run-ins with the law.

Her conservatorship finally ended in March 2022. This was nine years after being committed to a mental facility in 2013, following a series of episodes that happened in 2012.

Regardless, despite Amanda Bynes' current mental health struggles, her parents, Lynn and Rick, are determined not to put her back in a conservatorship.

That said, they do recognize the severity of her condition and promise to make sure to seek medical care and treatment right away, according to TMZ.

The lack of warning has made it all the more difficult for those who cared about Amanda to come to terms with what happened. It's yet another reminder of how mental health issues can't always be seen and how struggles don't just disappear when a person is in the limelight.
