Latest Bond Girl Ana de Armas Believes 'There's No Need For A Female Bond'

With Daniel Craig's final James Bond film behind him, fans everywhere have been waiting to see what direction the future of the series will take when casting the next Bond actor.

Some people have pushed for a more diverse Bond, namely casting a woman in Craig's place, but not everyone is in agreeance, including some cast members from the latest film.

'No Time To Die' star Ana de Armas shared her thoughts about Bond's future.

When speaking to The Sun, the actress, who plays Paloma in the latest installment of the James Bond film series, shared her thoughts about the typical roles in Bond films and how they could evolve in the future.

Including the titular man himself.

With No Time To Die having been Daniel Craig's final Bond film, talks have been had about who will replace him, with some people suggesting that Bond be a woman next time around.

Armas doesn't find that to be necessary.

"There's no need for a female Bond."

"There shouldn't be any need to steal someone else's character, you know, to take over," she explained, "This is a novel, and it leads into this James Bond world and this fantasy of that universe where he’s at."

That doesn't mean she thinks the female characters in the series don't have room to grow.

"What I would like is that the female roles in the Bond films, even though Bond will continue to be a man, are brought to life in a different way, that they're given a more substantial part and recognition. That's what I think is more interesting than flipping things."

It's an opinion the series' producer, Barbara Broccoli, agrees with.

Back in 2018, she told The Guardian, "He's a male character. He was written as a male and I think he'll probably stay as a male, and that's fine."

"We don't have to turn male characters into women. Let's just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters."
