Canadians get to claim this one!
He now has dual-citizenship.

Instead of ditching his Canadian citizenship when he moved to America in 2004, he opted for dual-citizenship.
This came in handy when he was added to the Canadian Walk of Fame that same year.
2. When the pandemic hit, he bought a small, secluded cabin to quarantine in.

“As soon as this happened I bought this tiny little cabin up in Montana, and it keeps me way — far away from anybody. I don’t see a human soul, really,” he told Jimmy Fallon .
3. He was once informed he had 10 minutes to live.

While visiting Hawaii, he was alerted that missiles had been launched at the island and that he and his daughter had 10 minutes to live.
The two sat by the ocean during what they thought were their final minutes, only to find out that it was a false alarm with two minutes to spare .
“A fake missile alert in Hawaii. I was there. I was writing. My assistant Linda called me, she was crying, she said, ‘We have 10 minutes left.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ She said, ‘The missiles are coming,'” he told Jimmy Fallon.

“I tried to get off the island to my daughter. I couldn’t get off the island,” he said . “The question was posed — should we all try to get together? I said, ‘I don’t want to die in my car.’ And we had to say goodbye.”
“”I sat on the lanai and looked out at the ocean,” he recalled. “At that point, I just started going, ‘OK, well, what can I do with this last moment of time?’ And I just decided to go through a list of gratitudes.”

“I could not stop thinking of wonderful things that have happened to me and blessings I’ve had. It was lovely. And I got to a point of grace with about two minutes to spare when I found out it wasn’t actually happening. And all I was planning to do was close my eyes and be thankful because it’s been a good ride .”
4. He started off as a stand-up comedian.
He made his comedy debut at Toronto’s Yuk Yuk club, where he gave a lackluster performance.

6. He won back-to-back Golden Globes for *The Truman Show & Man on the Moon* in 1999 and 2000.
“It was a very strange experience. It was one of the weirdest experiences I’ve had making a movie, to be honest with you. It was just wacky. Jim was wacky during it. He did this whole thing where he was Andy Kaufman all the time when he was on set and when he was in the costume, and was Tony Clifton all the time when he was Tony Clifton,” his co-star, Paul Giamatti, told Buzzfeed in 2013.
7. His former girlfriend, Cathriona White, died of a drug overdose in 2015.

It was eventually ruled a suicide.
“Cat’s troubles were born long before I met her and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control. I really hope that someday soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace,” Jim said in a statement .
8. He has a daughter.

Jim has a 32-year-old daughter named Jane, from his first marriage to Melissa Womer from 1987 to 1995.
Subsequently, he was briefly engaged to Lauren Holly for a year, then dated Renée Zellweger and Jenny McCarthy.
9. He made his film debut in 1985, starring as the male lead in *Once Bitten*.

While this film was not entirely well-received, it did allow Jim to get his foot in the door of Hollywood, ultimately leading to his booming success as an actor.
10. Despite building a reputation for himself as an anti-vaccine advocate, he insists that he is not.

“I am PRO-VACCINE/ANTI-NEUROTOXIN, Get that straight,” he wrote on Twitter . “I repeat! I AM PRO-VACCINE/ANTI-NEUROTOXIN, as is Robert Kennedy Jr.”
