The idea of giving birth can be a frightening thought for many expectant mothers. Fortunately, the vast majority of them have nine months to warm up to the prospect — most of the time.
But every once in a while, a woman can go through her entire pregnancy without even realizing that she’d conceived in the first place. It recently happened to a TikToker named Kayla Simpson, who didn’t know she was pregnant until she saw the head!
When I was a young kid, probably about eight or nine, I decided that I wanted to learn to play the guitar.

My parents both dabbled and thought that this was a wonderful idea. They purchased my first acoustic guitar and I was promptly enrolled in lessons.
It didn’t take long for me to realize that while I did indeed love the instrument, I hated the process of learning to play it.

I sucked at reading music and couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to stretch my hand into a G-chord. I quickly became frustrated, then disinterested, and soon after vowed to quit.
I told my dad I no longer wished to play guitar and informed him of my reasons why.

He said, “If anyone could become Eric Clapton overnight, then everyone would do it.” Followed up quickly with, “You can’t be a little bit pregnant, Jord.”
He used to love that dusty old proverb — “You can’t be a little bit pregnant.” For years, I had no idea what it meant.

As I got older, I came to realize “You can’t be a little bit pregnant” was his way of saying that some things in life are binary. You’re either in or you’re out; you are or you aren’t.
But what if that wasn’t true? What if you could be “A little bit pregnant” and not even know it until it was time for you to give birth?

Although it sounds highly unlikely and possibly preposterous, it’s far more common than you might believe.
You may even recall a docu-series in the late ’00s, aptly titled, ‘I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant’.
I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant told the true stories of women who had no idea they were carrying a child until it came time to give birth.
Recently, a TikToker named Kayla Simpson (@kaylasimpson) went viral with her own story of being “A little bit pregnant.”

It all began back when Kayla was in her sophomore year in college. One night, while attending a student party, she met a fellow whom she fancied and they hooked up.
“9 months later, I went to the hospital thinking I had appendicitis,” she captioned her video.

The doctors checked her appendix and confirmed that she was in no danger of having it burst. For the life of them, they couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
“While they were doing an ultrasound, my mom saw something familiar on the screen.”
“Seconds later, I started screaming in pain and the doctor ran in — it was a head !!” Kayla was then quickly rushed to the birthing room and pushed out her baby daughter 15 minutes later in just three tries.
Kayla also claims that her pregnancy was the skinniest she’d ever been in her life.

Kayla had no baby bump whatsoever and continued to get her period. This photo of her in a bikini was taken roughly six months into her pregnancy.
She spent two days in the hospital and came home with a happy and healthy baby girl.

” She’s now about to turn 1 and we are doing amazing!” As you can tell from Kayla’s personal Instagram account, her little girl already knows her angles.
“All these people saying this is their worst fear and I’m over here thinking this is the only way I could handle pregnancy,” TikTok user @kaitlindoesmagic said.

Kayla also posted a follow-up video to her viral TikTok (16.5 million views and counting) in order to answer some of the more common questions from her audience.
Kayla first wanted to quiet the haters who were asserting that her daughter must have F.A.S.

Kayla quickly put this to bed, assuring her followers that she wasn’t drinking during her pregnancy and that her daughter most assuredly does not have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
“Probably the biggest question I get is, ‘Does her dad know and is he in her life?'”

“The answer is ‘yes’ to both,” Kayla replied. ” He is very much in her life , he is her dad. Yeah, we just keep him offline; great situation.”
So the next time that someone tries to tell you, “You can’t be a little bit pregnant,” remember Kayla’s story.
And for the love of god, if you think there could be any chance whatsoever that you’re pregnant — take a test. Take two. Hell, maybe just get in the habit of making it a part of your post-coital routine? Of course, Kayla loves her daughter — but a little advanced notice of her arrival would’ve been nice.
