If you’re planning to visit a Disney theme park, listen up. Did you know that this family-friendly establishment has a dress code? Oh, yeah! And apparently, if you break the ‘code,’ you may get asked to wear a T-shirt instead.
That’s exactly what happened to this one young woman recently, and she posted all about it on TikTok . So let’s find out more about it. Shall we?
Alyssa Schueller recently visited two Disney theme parks.
She first went to Animal Kingdom and had absolutely no issues. Then she decided to hop over to Epcot and that’s when things changed. She was asked to wear a Disney T-shirt over her so-called “inappropriate” bikini top.
Here’s the thing:
According to Disney’s website, this is their rule states, “Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times,” as its theme parks are “casual, family-oriented” environments. Okay, fair enough. But that’s not what Schueller had an issue with here. She said the apparent inconsistency between the two theme parks is what she found confusing.
Schueller didn’t realize there was a dress code at Disney.
And being escorted by a staff member to get a T-shirt issued to her was an embarrassing experience. She later checked the dress code rules out of curiosity and didn’t find anything on there that talked about ties on clothing.
This wasn’t the first time it has happened to somebody.
Another Disney-goer named Tori posted on TikTok about her experience wearing a black shirt with cutouts. Apparently, Disney deemed that outfit “inappropriate” too. In this case, she was also able to get a free shirt from a gift shop.
After she posted her video on TikTok, some people said at least she got a free shirt out of the ordeal.
It’s one way to get free Disney swag. But then again, others pointed out that doing so could cause problems for people who work at the theme parks. Tori also didn’t know about Disney’s dress code, so she definitely didn’t do this on purpose.

So what’s the deal here?
Here’s what the Disney website says, “Disney reserves the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that is considered inappropriate.” So, to be honest, it can be anything that an employee deems doesn’t fit the company’s family-friendly standards.
There’s also this.
“Clothing which, by nature, exposes portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment.” Some former Disney employees said that “The rule is that your top can’t have just a string to hold it together.”
In the case of Alyssa Schueller, that’s exactly what she was wearing.
So I guess the employee who spotted that was acting according to the Disney rules. It’s just funny that she was able to visit Animal Kingdom with no issues, but when she tried to go to Epcot, that’s when she was approached to change her outfit.
