Growing up, there’s a good chance your mom was the one who made lunch for you every day. In fact, in the majority of families, it’s the woman who primarily does the cooking (and grocery shopping).
Like all gendered roles , this is slowly changing. But it’s still universally accepted that many men have no idea how to put their kids’ meals together (not like mom, at least).
For one dad, that idea became reality when his wife left detailed instructions for him.

In his Reddit post, titled, ” My wife just went back to work and thinks I’m an idiot ,” the husband comically shows the carefully planned instructions for his kids’ lunch that day.
Check the picture out for yourself!

The hilarious photo shows two plates; one for their son, and the other for their daughter. It shows the specific food items that go in each spot, as well as the quantity and any other specifications.
All in all, it’s pretty well thought out!

It also goes to show how much effort and care a parent puts into making sure their kids get the perfect lunch every single day. It’s got to be a skill or something.
The comment section was loving the post, sharing their own thoughts and jokes.

“I can already hear it, ‘That’s not how Mommy does it…'” one commenter wrote.
The dad actually replied to this, saying, “Haha it went pretty smoothly but apparently I had the temperature wrong for some of the food.”
Another commenter joked in response, “So what you’re saying is, her notes weren’t detailed enough.”
A lot of people, in fact, saw the humor in this post.

One comment reads, “My wife tried the same thing with me. Little did she know, my kids like actual food way more than paper with some words written on it.”
All jokes aside, this was actually really thoughtful on the mom’s part.

OP mentioned that his kids have different allergies, which means they need to avoid certain foods, which differ between both children — which can be a lot for a parent to remember.
In fact, a lot of prep goes into feeding these two kids.

OP further commented, “It would be amazing if we could always just cook one meal but both kids have severe and different allergies. So we end up needing to make 3 different dishes, every time. Sometimes we can get away with 2.”
He also shared that the transition back to work wasn’t so easy for his wife.

“She is incredibly anxious about the separation and I’m doing everything I can to help her feel comfortable,” he wrote. “I prepped the dinner exactly how she asked me to. But I still thought it was pretty funny.”
Of course, there were some commenters who took the post too seriously.

Some thought the food the kids were getting wasn’t healthy enough, or that they were being pampered with such specific meal options. But at the end of the day, it’s really not that serious?
In any case, the overwhelming majority of people absolutely loved this funny post.

One comment reads, “In my family, she prevented a meltdown. Shows how much she loves you and the kids.”
I think that about sums it all up.
