If you’ve ever had any kind of job, there’s a good chance you know what it feels like to be burned out. It happens to the best of us all the time. Of course, if you’re a working parent with a house that constantly needs cleaning, it probably happens a bit more often.
A few years back, a woman on Reddit who goes by 71913sj101 talked about how she’d work, take care of their young son, and clean the house. All the while, her husband would come home from work and just sleep. When the wife had enough, she sent her son to her mom’s and took a “vacation” in the family cabin. But the husband was mad at her for doing so, prompting the woman to ask the AITA community if she was in the wrong .
The User Shared Her Story.

Though She Works, Too, OP Does The Bulk Of The Housework.

OP has a WFH job where she works 12-hour shifts, four days a week. Her husband works evenings/nights and ends up going to sleep pretty soon after he comes home. When they first had their son, the husband would help out a lot, but as time went on, the wife ended up taking on more and more of the childcare and cleaning in the house.
OP states that she tried to ask her husband for more help multiple times, but he didn’t seem to take her seriously. Eventually, she’d had enough. OP arranged to have her mom look after the son, took some vacation time at work, and then took off to the cabin she shares with her husband.
The husband called asking where OP was, and she explained everything. The husband was upset, claiming that OP didn’t communicate her needs well enough and that he needed a vacation too.
But Commenters Found That OP Was Right To Do What She Did.

This happened because the husband didn’t take the initiative to help around the house. OP was right to go on a vacation on her own.
Plus, The Husband Sort Of Gets A Vacation Too.

Sure, he’d have to clean up after himself, but commenters argued that he got the house to himself. Even their son is being taken care of.
However, Some Felt That OP Didn’t Communicate Well.

While most people felt OP was entitled to her time off, some felt she could’ve communicated her wishes better. A lot of this could’ve been avoided if OP and her husband were on the same page.
