If you’ve been following the 2025 Grammy Awards which took place last Sunday on 2 February, you will have been made aware of Kanye West and his wife Bianca Censori’s stunt at the ceremony’s red carpet, where she dropped her fur coat to reveal nothing but a sheer minidress underneath.
Since then, many have been wondering if the N**W outfit will bring some form of legal punishment to Censori, but the answer is that it will likely not – here’s why.
The couple made headlines
Kanye West is notorious for making headlines in the world of entertainment, with the most recent story being his wife’s indecency at the 2025 Grammy Awards red carpet.
Censori had showed up to the event in a large fur coat, which she slowly took off in front of paparazzi to show her n**e body.
It was rumored that they were removed
Following this stunt, a rumor circulated social media outlets that the couple had been removed from the venue or asked to leave.
It was later explained that they had left on their own accord. It was just that they had shown up to the red carpet and had no plans to stay.
People were shocked by the stunt
Naturally, everyone was taken aback by this stunt, with people taking to social media to comment on it.
One person wrote on X/Twitter, “How is Bianca Censori not in prison after exposing herself in public the amount of times she has.”
Another person asked if it were not illegal
“I’m not going to tweet the pictures of Kanye West’s wife, Bianca Censori. Whatever the reason, whatever is going on, it is not right and is deeply disturbing. Is it not indecent exposure? Are there not laws against such things?” a user wrote.
A third penned at the model’s indecency
“Why the h**l is Bianca Censori not in jail for indecent exposure. Children were present. California Penal Code § 314 PC @LAPDHQ,” another person wrote on the platform.
It’s safe to say the outfit – or lack thereof – shocked millions of viewers.
What the law says
What this person is probably referring to is the California Penal Code 314 (1) which defines indecent exposure as ‘when a person exposes his or her naked body or g******s in front of anyone who could be annoyed or offended by it.’
But Censori won’t face punishment
Although many wondered if the indecency was against the law, it turns out Censori will likely not face any punishment for her outfit, according to the New York Post.
According to a TMZ report, the Recording Academy and AEG, who handle the broadcasting of the Grammys each year, said they didn’t receive any complaints during or after the show about Censori’s stunt.
There were also no complaints to police
TMZ also cited an LAPD spokesperson who said there were no complaints made to the police either.
Since the law defines indecent exposure as one where people could be annoyed or offended, and nobody sent in a complaint, no legal action can be taken against Censori.
A source close to the rapper spoke
A source close to Kanye West – who reportedly changed his name to Ye – told The Sun that he allegedly used the award show to celebrate “art” through his wife.
“People have called this a stunt but to Ye this is his art. He turned up, made headlines around the world and left. No one told him what to do and even if they had, he wouldn’t have listened,” they said.
The source said West wouldn’t have stayed
“Ye always planned to do the red carpet and leave – he’d never sit through the Grammys because it’s so dull and boring,” they added.
And in speaking about Censori, they said, “There’s no coercion involved. This is what Ye does, he makes a statement and the whole world talks about it.”
