As I said, fashion trends come and go, but one thing’s for sure — we can all adjust our styles to fit with the current times, no? That’s what I think, and I’m sticking to it.
And as it turns out, I’m not alone. This one TikToker is showing us all how to update the millennial style with some fun modern touches. And I think she definitely has a point, so let’s look at her choices below.
Millennial TikToker @beingjulia is fed up with outdated styles.
So she decided to show people how to put a modern spin on the millennial wardrobe in her new TikTok series “Updating Millennial Outfits.” So if you’re into that kind of thing, listen up.
Let’s take a look at some of her suggestions.
Julia shows us how to update the beloved millennial look — shorts and a chunky necklace. Instead of regular short shorts, she opted for tailored shorts. They look so much more polished, no? On top, she suggests wearing a plain T-shirt or a tank top. Then, you can dress the look up or down depending on what shoes and purse you wear.
And here’s another take on the shorts idea:
This time, Julia took on the short denim shorts with a knotted shirt and a kimono look. She updated the style by switching to a longer pair of denim shorts, and then she paired it with a cropped top and a button-down shirt. Her second option was to wear a blazer with a plain white tee. What do you think of that idea?
Do you like plaid shirts?
As it turns out, Julia isn’t a fan. So she’s showing us how to elevate this style by wearing a more simple button-down shirt instead. She pairs this combination with basic straight jeans. Then, she adds on accessories like a cute bag and shoes.
Did you love your colored skinny jeans back in the day?
If you said “no” then you’re in for a treat. This time Julia took the sinny jeans out and replaced them with a pair of wide-leg pants. I guess they’re just more flattering on different people, eh? As a top, she suggests wearing a puffed sleeve blouse or a plain tee. Nice! I love that idea.
Here’s her take on the black-and-white millenial style favorite:
Julia liked mixing black and white together, but she didn’t enjoy the pants choice and the off-the-shoulder top idea. Instead, she picked loose-fitting pants and replaced the top with one that had shoulder pads. Hmm, I’m not sure about the shoulder pad idea. What’s your take on her outfit here?
Let’s look at another millenial favorite.
This time Julia tackled the whole black ripped skinny jeans with a tank top, Gucci belt, and sunglasses. She updated it by switching out the skinny jeans for black straight jeans. She then paired it with a basic tank or a tee. For shoes, she suggests going with sandals or Converse runners. To finish the look, she layered some gold necklaces and added gold hoop earrings and sunglasses.
Here’s the final look I chose from Julia’s videos:
Julia wasn’t crazy about pairing a swing dress with a particular cut of a denim jacket and a long necklace that she said was dating millennials. Instead, she chose a plain fitted dress that’s more classic. Then, over top, she would suggest an oversized denim jacket or a button-up
Wow, what do you think of these ideas?
Do you like the way Julia updated these millennial fashion styles? I’m not convinced about all her concepts here, but I like where she’s going with it all. There are always things you can do to elevate your current wardrobe, and that’s what I think she’s trying to do here, no?
