I know there’s nothing more fun than judging celebrities online. Trust me — it’s one of my favorite hobbies. But it’s only really fun if we’re judging them on something that’s worth judging them for . Otherwise, it just feels mean-spirited.
One thing people love to judge celebrities for is when they’re in relationships with large age gaps, and honestly, I’m sick of it!
Take, for example, Katharine McPhee and her husband, David Foster.

When Katharine, 36, confirmed that she was having a baby with her husband of one year, David Foster, people had a lot to say about the fact that David is 71 years old.
But is it any of our business?
If they’re happy and they feel secure in their relationship enough to have a child, then that’s all that matters!

We’ve all had people comment on our lives and decisions behind our backs, and I’m sure we all know how it feels to have someone who doesn’t know the details of a situation judge you for how you handled it. Why should celebrities be any different?
It’s clear that Katharine doesn’t have any problem with the age gap.
Katharine has joked about it a ton of times , so I think if the person in the relationship doesn’t think it’s an issue, nobody else’s opinion really matters, right?
Besides, according to David’s daughters, the age gap is actually a good thing for them.
“Interestingly, the age difference has played a role in a positive way,” David’s daughter, Erin, the same age as Katharine, has said.

“Our dad comes from a generation where women are more passive. He is also passive about his feelings. Kat has really pushed him to open up,” Erin said .
If his own daughters don’t mind the age gap, why does anyone online think they get a say?
Sometimes, the large age gaps can actually be really sweet.

Take Jason Momoa, 41, and his wife, Lisa Bonet, 53. There might be a 12-year age difference between the pair, but that actually allowed for a pretty sweet connection — Lisa was Jason’s first celebrity crush!
Jason’s recalled seeing Lisa on TV and having a major crush on her.
“Ever since I was like, 8 years old and I saw her on the TV, I was like, ‘Mommy, I want that one,’” Jason once said of seeing Lisa on The Cosby Show .
As long as both parties are consenting adults, it shouldn’t matter how far apart they are in age.

Like Sarah Paulson, 45, and Holland Taylor, 77, who have a 32-year age gap but look so happy in all of their pictures!
In fact, there are loads of celebrity couples who have at least a decade between them that you probably never even realized.
George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney have a 17-year gap.
Amal is 42 and George is 59 —should we discredit the very impressive woman who was able to lock down George Clooney just because she happens to be 12 years his junior? They’re clearly a power couple, regardless of the age gap.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have an 11-year gap.
This one is impossible to argue against — it doesn’t matter that Blake is 33 and Ryan is 44, they’re clearly a perfect couple who make each other (and us) laugh all the time, and isn’t that pretty much the point of any relationship?
Hilaria and Alec Baldwin are 26 years apart!

The couple have been married since 2012, and they already have five children together — clearly, Hilaria being 36 and Alec being 62 hasn’t stopped them from being a happy family.
There you have it!

All of these couples are adults, and they’re all happy, so maybe we should focus on criticizing celebrities who actually deserve it instead of couples who are just minding their own business!
