The tennis champion recently gave fans a real glimpse of what motherhood actually looks like.
Being a working mom is not easy — just ask Serena Williams.
The 38-year-old tennis professional athlete balances a demanding tennis career with her two-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia, who she had with husband, Alexis Ohanian.
Serena always been extremely candid on the subject.
For instance, she spoke to Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour earlier this month, via Time , about how becoming a mother has impacted her.
“After having a child, my heroes are moms because women are superheroes,” she said.
“To have a baby and then have to go to work two or three weeks later or work a nine to five … I’m fortunate to not have to do that.”
“I’m at a loss for words when I think of women who work day in and day out, providing for their families, when I know how hard it is for me to leave my daughter.”
She continued:
“I never felt that way until I became a mom. I think women need to be recognized.”
It’s not even just motherhood and tennis that she balances, either.
The athlete has a lot on the go, including her S by Serena fashion line, which includes ready-to-wear items, such as dresses, bodysuits, and blazers.
She previously spoke to “People” about how she manages this *on top* of all her other demands.
“I basically don’t balance,” she said .
“When I do something one day, it is 100 percent. Then when I am done, I am done and on to the next thing!”
“I live and breathe fashion in the tennis off-season, but no matter what else I do, I am always a mom and I love every minute of it.“
You go, girl!
Now, the star is getting candid once again — this time, on the not-so-elegant parts of being a working mother.
This includes being tired and exhausted all the time, while still having to put on a brave face and get it done.

This was captured in a picture shared to the tennis champion’s Instagram page.
“I am not sure who took this picture but Working and being a mom is not easy. I am often exhausted, stressed, and then I go play a professional tennis match,” she wrote.
She continued: “We keep going. I am so proud and inspired by the women who do it day in and day out. I’m proud to be this baby’s mama @olympiaohanian. #nofilter #nomakeup #nohairbursh lol #justme.”
Having a kid may have slowed her down for a bit in tennis, but she’s even found her stride again.
In January of this year, she won the ASB Classic in New Zealand.
This marked her first tennis title since becoming a mother!
Serena’s post resonated with so many people around the world, as they commented words of praise for the working mother.
Model Karlie Kloss commented two hearts and a crown emoji, since Williams is clearly a queen.
Kerry Washington, who has three kids, could relate to the struggle.
“Yes, yes and yesssss! I feel this. Thanks for sharing and lifting others up in the process,” added The Office alum, Angela Kinsey.
Serena was also praised for her honesty since a lot of celebs typically have nannies.
“Motherhood isn’t pretty, real women especially real mothers, know that. Its all that you said it is and more but its the best job that there is. You look beautiful in the pic because it shows you doing what you do best and thats being a mom…” wrote another fan.
In addition to showing solidarity to working moms, Serena has made it clear that parents don’t have to be perfect.
“No matter what I’ve heard, and no matter how many times people have told me, ‘You don’t have to be perfect,’ and I say, ‘I know that,’ every time [I still feel I] have to be perfect,” Williams shared in an interview with Glamour .
“It’s just what us moms do, which makes me respect moms so much. My mom, and all the women out there who have done it before, I’m just like, ‘Wow, you guys are amazing.'”
