The Proposal is the perfect blend of love and laughs
In the fan-favorite 2009 romcom, Bullock plays Margaret Tate, this tough-as-nails woman running a book publishing company. She’s Canadian, and when she’s about to get kicked out of the U.S., she basically blackmails her assistant, Andrew (Reynolds), into marrying her.
The deal? She stays, he gets a promotion. They both agree, and then it’s off to Alaska for some fake marriage shenanigans while they pretend to be madly in love and get his parents’ “approval.”
Sparks flew, but it was still pretty awkward
While pretending to be in love during the trip, there’s definitely some chemistry between them. But before things heat up, they go through some awkward moments.
That famous nude scene took awkwardness to another level
So, there’s this one scene where Margaret steps out of the shower, soaking wet, looking for a towel… and bam, she bumps right into Andrew, who’s just gotten back from a run and stripped down.
They end up crashing into each other, all tangled up and trying to cover themselves. It’s funny but super awkward, and they both scramble to find something to cover up with.
Bullock said the scene wasn’t hot at all
“Ah, the naked scene,” Bullock laughed when she talked about it on The Graham Norton Show.
“There’s nothing funnier than two naked bodies slapping together. There’s nothing s*xy about it at all – it’s funny. I don’t do naked for s*xy. Naked only works for me in the funny.”
Modesty covers didn’t exactly do their job
While filming this funny scene, Bullock’s modesty cover-ups kept falling off, and Reynolds accidentally gave everyone on set a bit of an eyeful.
These behind-the-scenes tidbits kind of make Bullock’s comments about the scene being the opposite of s*xy more understandable.

Bullock once said, “You will not see me trying to attempt being s*xy naked – in real life or on screen. There’s just no point in it.”
Ryan made her feel safe on set
Bullock explained, “It was for that reason, with a friend that you trusted comedically, and safety-wise I knew I was in the presence of safety.”
The Graham Norton Show chat left people scratching their heads
When Bullock mentioned safety on set, it confused film legend Samuel Jackson. So Bullock quickly cleared things up, saying she was talking about movies, not real life.
She also joked, “If you’re having s*x and you get recorded, and you don’t know you’re being recorded, my guess – not that I’ve ever done this – is that you don’t look good doing it.”
